Default went to the track. need advice!

went to the track with my buddy for the first time the other day. he has a 02ss m6. he just bought the car and this was his first trip to the track. the car was sold to him as a stock car. nothing done to it. right off i noticed a p&p TB and catback exhaust and a skip shift eliminator. anyways i pulled the best time of the night on the car it was a 1.69 60' and 8.01 at 94mph! this was with the factory size street tires. the time seemed quick to be a stock car. i donnt notice anything else done to it. maybe just a foctory freak? what are typical 1/8th mile times for a stock SS?

Um... definitely not stock. Then again, that 60' time is pretty darn good for an M6 on street tires. Best I've ever made was a 2.017 60'.

pulling a 1.69 with stock m6 is near impossible to do on regular tires, even with quite a bit of work alot of M6's are around 2.0 60's...i would have to think there is something else done based on the 60ft alone...

im sorry but 1.69 ad 94 mph is impssible... maybe a timing malfunction or looking at the wrong side of slip but just hard to believe.. thats like a 118 mph stock trap in a 1/4 mile lol

That's like going to the gym for the first time and bench pressing 300lbs. I'd have to see it to believe it. Something's amiss.

that's pretty damn impressive for a "stock" car.

Cutting a 1.69 on stock tires + the 10 bolt usually = busted 10 bolt.

it just doesnt make sense 94 mph and 8.01? which is 12.50 at 117 which is rediculous trap for a 12.50 ecspecially when it obviously hooked with a 1.69.... makes no sense

I got a 1.7 on street tires.....but usually get on the norm 1.8-2. I don't see it as impossible but more improbable. I got about the same time 1/8 mile with all the mods I have now. I launch in 2nd gear....not sure if that's what he did though

thanks guys. first off before everyone starts calling BS this is far from my first pass down the strip. just the first time in this car. and that was my Best pull of the day. i rainged from 2.1 to the 1.6 and the tires are nitto NT555s running 17PSI. the car has a very hard pulling bottom end and top end power range but not to impressive mid range. its weird. what are typical stock numbers?

That Z28 is not stock, sorry. With that trap it has more than bolt ons. My Z28 is a factory freak, and I trap just under 114mph in the quarter, and I can freaking drive. There is no way I could ever get my car to trap at 94mph in the 1/8th or 118mph in the quarter without at least a small nitrous shot, or a cam.

The op also replied the car had Nitto 555r's. So that helped the 60ft a lot. I imagine since it has catback and P&P throttle body it may have a tune also. It could also have an aftermarket clutch, UD, gear, ect. He also said the 1.6 was the best 60ft all night which ranged from 2.0 to 1.6. It is possible that the car had more mods than the owner new when he bought it.
