Arrow 99 LS1 Camaro Project Log : From Wrecked to Show Quality

Long story short.. Car got wrecked twice and now I am pouring a ton of money into the car that should really be going into my stocks. The first wreck was my fault. Backdoored someone that stopped in the middle of the highway.

Second wreck was a broken ebrake. The car rolled backwards down my "steep" driveway, through the neighbors fence, and the up against their house.

The car is in the shop now and will have a show car finish when done. Took the ground effects off and shaved the anttena hole. Adding SS hood, spoiler, and CME valance.

Also I ordered a set of 18 inch c6's today.

Heres how she was the day I got her.

Here is what a barbed wire fence will do to your car. Also the "ricer" lights are coming off. Was a temp fix until I got some new OEMs. The ricer lights are for sale and are perfect. $60

Here is the front damage. I had already replace the hood and headlight. You can see the busted fender. The front nose is scraped up real bad, but it is hard to tell in the photo.

Lots of small dents to fix!

If any of you have paint defects in the roof panel, its because Chevy though it would be cool to paint over GLUE

While in the shop I thought I would put more attention into my CarPuter and sound system. I have already relocated the heater controls to the glove box BTW. The screen is a lilliput touch screen and the cd player is a Sony CDX-C90. The sony is an audiophile deck and the best one they ever put out.

Here is the look I am going for. I got the regular C6's instead of the motorsports. I will also be adding front clear markers and a HID headlight kit.

My paint will be much better than stock though. No orangepeel or waves in the body. You would be surprised how bad some the fbody's are straight from the factory

Here is the C6's I got from wheelreplicas.com. Paid $728 shipped. That included caps, chrome lugs, and valve stems.

I have gotten the impression that bling = "ricey" around here Those motorsports wheels are not ricey, just a bit more blingy.

Yup. Broke. Overuse? When its cold out, I always warm it up good since take my daughter to school. Started it up one day as usual, came back in to get ready, few minutes later I noticed I could not hear the exhaust inside, I thought my car died for the first time, looked out the kitchen window,

My car was gone

stepped outside, car was like 150 yards away in the neighbors yard.

That fence bent the exhaust bad! The tips were pointing toward the front of the car!!!

But it was still running.

Yea.. Those rims are not ricey and I really could have flipped a coin between the motorsports and the ones I got.

That fender and bumper aftermarket or OEM? If they are aftermarket, how's the fitment and where'd you get them?

The front cover was my original oem cover. The body shop reworked it with heat and plastic welding. They did an impressive job on it imop. The fender is also an oem pulled off a junkyard camaro. The passenger fender is/was a aftermarket piece of junk. Once again the body shop worked magic and smoothed it out.

I would stay away from aftermarket camaro body parts at all costs. Fitment is ok on them , but just look how wavey the fender was.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the junkyard fender run you? I need to replace my fender and bumper at some point (my bumper might be repairable, I don't know).

This summer I want to do the body work on my car, then maybe next summer do an LS1 + M6 swap (among other things..) But I'm thinking maybe I should look at getting a wrecked 98 Z28 or SS that has a good powertrain and front end and do it that way. Might be cheaper in the long haul than getting the individual parts, and could get replacement body parts at the same time too...

Sorry, musing to myself...

The fender was $50. Front covers are a little harder to find though. Goto car-parts.com and you can usually junkyard parts in your area.

This car will be stunning when it's finished. A good friend of mine is painting it, and he does excellent work.

I ordered one of those glass mount wire antennas today. It should hide nicely inside the rear hatch glass.

My C6 rims came in today. I must say that I am impressed with wheelreplicas.com. The rims got here a couple days sooner than I expected them to be. They also threw in some keyed locking nuts for me.
