Default Changing Plugs and Wires

Is it worth it to do it myself? Seems like it'd be a big thing and require a lot of tools I might not have.

Man I keep asking myself that question. 1-3-5-7 look like a cakewalk. The others look like a bitch. I'm a pretty big guy with only 2 extensions in my tool box. I'm thinking I'll take a buddies offer to change them out for 100 bucks and some decent cold beer

Yes very worth you doin it yourself, ive done it quite a few times even after seeing where some places say 2-8 hours and thats far from correct IMO took right around 45mins give or take a few to complete each time of done them, helpful hints ive used are removing A.I.R(passenger) were its bolted to header and just set it out of the way, and since your vehicle is an 01 you should have coil brackets just remove the bolts holding the brackets on an set them out the way... then grab your socket, ratchet, and small extension and be very patient, oh and just a word of advice that im sure many will agree with as well use either AC Delco or NGK plugs....

The only way to learn is to do it yourself. Go invest in a good set of tools or are you going to pay someone to fix your car everytime it needs repairs/tune-ups?? It is not that hard at all on a LS1 compared to a LT1. The first time will be the hardest, then you will get faster at it. Do you want to fix your own car? If not then pay someone to do it.

I recently did this for the 1st time on mine. Having headers and no AIR system helped a lot but it still took me 2.5 hours. I had to use a swivel extension and a swivel head ratchet to get #8. Oh, I removed the passenger side coil packs too.

You need a 10mm socket to remove the coil pack on the pass side, and the AIR tubes if you have them. Then a 5/8 spark plug socket, a 1" extension, and I like to use a 8" long3/8 drive breaker bar instead of a ratchet because it can get different angles.
Takes about 45 minutes to do the whole car.
I recently found this motorcycle spark plug socket set, it has a spring that holds the plugs in the socket, and some odd length, hex extensions.

I don't remove the coil packs. Only use 4 tools. 3/8ths ratchet, 15mm deepwell socket, 1' extension, and a 3' exstension. You also need a small tube of antiseize and dialectric grease. Take about an hour.
