Gto 6.0 trap speeds... why so slow???
Hey guys I sold my ws6 about 4 months ago and now its getting time for me to re enter the scene. I have two questions the first is what do 2004 gtos with the basic 5.7 ls1 trap in the quarter m6. And another is why do the 6.0 Gtos stock only trap 1o4-105 ish. My Bolt on ws6 trapped 107.1 with me taking it easy on it. The question i have is it really that more beneficial to get the 6.0 or should i just stick with the 5.7? and how well do the 6.0s respond to boltons like resonator delete headers etc?

I went 12.7 @ 109 in my auto 05 GTO with headers, catback, intake, and drag bags.
But stock torque management was killing it, couldn't even go past 1800rpm in first gear, if you had your foot on the brake. no burnouts

Frankly, I see no reason to even buy an '04 GTO unless you get an insane deal. The '05+ models make significantly more power stock.
A stock '04 GTO will be slower than a stock LS1 F-body, due to the increase in weight with no additional power on the GTO's part. But the '05+ should run the same or a little better than the final years of LS1 F-bodies.
If you insist on buying a GTO, get the '05+.

Well, considering that all I have is boltons and made 383/380 to the wheels I'd say I'm glad I purchased the LS2. An under drive pulley and cooler weather and i'm at 400 to the wheels. I don't see LS1's doing that.

The car is heavier, get the LS2, like everyone else is saying. I'd go with the LS1 GTO only if I got a smoking deal... then I'd put the money I saved into mods...

Torque Management.
Once the LS2 cars are tuned, they're totally different. My car only did 331rwhp SAE on TTP's dyno stock. On the same dyno with a CAI and a tune the car put down 363rwhp/358rwtq SAE and ran 12.7@111 on stock tires.
As far as the LS1 vs LS2, it depends what you're gonna do with it. If you want to stay bolt ons or do a H/C package, the LS2 has a great advantage due to the extra cubes and extra compression from the bottom end.

Also GTO's have a wheel hop prone IRS system that is no more stout then a 10 bolt in a F-body.
That being said there interior is second to none as far as GM is concerned and quite frankly is a leader compared to any car made.

The second I saw, LS1 GTO, I already knew the anwser. To put it simply its heavy and under powered. (GASP, kinda like the Mustang) I never thought I'd say that.
Play Forza 2 and you'll see that the GTO is in C class. It also runs like 14 seconds.

My 05 6 speed ls2 gto ran 13.0 @ 107 completely stock.....12.7 @ 111 with a catback/cold air/diablosport handheld. I wouldnt really buy one if you want to race due to the weight and IRS....but they do pull very hard @ highway speeds.
