Do you ever take your car to auto-x or track day? If you are aggressively on and off the throttle then a N/A stroker setup would be ideal. If this is more of a grand touring application like in a road rally and you simply want the power just in case, visit the strip every now and then, etc. then FI would be fine.

So I take it 400whp isn't enough?

Well 400 rwhp is nice, but 500 rwhp is better and I just wanted to know which way would be cheapest route.

I am in the same boat. I keep tossing up both the ideas but not sure which one to do....I had bought the 6.0 iron block but after having problems with that entire situation I think I have made up my mind. I am going to go with the forged 347 with nice heads...afr, trickflow, ect. .. all the bolt ons, decent cam with ported fast...I am aiming for 450 hp+ but like to shoot lower so when I achieve higher I'll feel great....then after the tranny upgrade and rear... I will put a 150-200 shot on i to achieve 600hp+. But the supercharger does sound nice for all the time power....and you can go with cheaper heads...like the 6.0 heads to help ofset the cost of the FI.

I just want to get it done right the 1st time. I think you can do more with bigger cubes and are limited with a 347. My goal is about 500rwhp and keep it this way for years.

I think you may be able to get more out of big cubes with FI but if 500 is your goal, that can easily be handled by the 347.....many guys in the dyno section are using 347 with FI and getting well over 600 rwhp with about 12 lbs of boost.

Yea but by the time I decide to do the swap, my LS1 347 will have about 85,000-90,000 miles on it. Will it handle all that power?

I doubt it if it is not forged (reliability wise with that amt of miles).....i was thinking it was forged because the stock block is only a 346.... When you said 347 I thought you mentioning that you were gonna forge it??
If you want reliabilty, a little cheaper than theforged 347 FI route as well, then go with the 408...there is a section in the Dyno parts with a lot of the 402 and 408's dyno numbers on a sheet with the mods they have....check it out here! https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/816128-408-results-part-ii.html

Many of the sponsorss sell built 408 short blocks for around 4K

I chose other. I would have to say 408 H/C/I & Turbo

But if it were me, I would go with the H/C & supercharged 347..

Whats your budget on the build BTW??

i think H/C/SC on any cube will be nasty on our LS1's!! but i would try to do it on more cubes though.

Are we talking about a forged 346?
If so you can build a forged 408ci for the same price basically, and strap the supercharger on that!
408ci + F1a + pump gas = an easy 800rwhp.
