Whenever I run Shell Premium from certain stations, my SES light will go on and stay on until I refill my tank from a different gas station...
For anyone that wants to test this out, fill up at the Shell on Ripley off I-80/94 by Lake Station, IN. When I fill up there, my SES light goes on. But if I fill up anywhere else, including the Ernie's Shell in Lincolnshire, IL, there is no SES light... I have longtubes and no cats, but I don't get an SES light unless I fill up at that gas station...
I should add that I get no loss of mileage, no loss of performance when this light goes on, but it's interesting that that gas is pissing something off.
I'm curious to see if anyone knows why this happens?

Shell gas is the only Top Tier gas available in my area. It's all I ever run. No idea why it'd cause your car to flash codes.

I use Shell often and have only had a problem at 1 station here in Dallas. I seriously think they add water or something. I don't buy gas at that station any more.

kinda weird but in my moms car (bmw, lot more sensors than our cars but) if you dont put the gas cap on tight enough the light will come, never noticed it with my car and all i use is shell, but you might check that, maybe, probably a long shot but maybe,

Our cars have the same "sensors" for that. If you leave your gas cap off long enough your CEL will come on as well.

I noticed that happening to me when they started cutting ethanol into it. A Mobil next to my house was the last station here to start doing that and it was the only place I could get gas so the light would go out. Needless to say they started and now my light stays on all the time.
