Before you try and haze me, its not as dark out as it looks, something was jacked up with the camera. But IMO, 5.0 w/Mac LTs, a Pro-Chamber, and Pro-Dumps...

actually i think one of the best sounds on the ls1 is the cutout only...and yes i think that sounds better than a mustang. to be honest i don't like any of the sounds of the aftermarket exhaust systems on ls1's, with the one exception being true duals, and i think those sound awesome if done properly. borla, flowmaster, hooker...all crap if you ask me. they may flow well, but they make ls1's sound funny and therefore the mustang would beat them hands down. just imo obviously.
i'm talking about a mostly stock car, too. start adding cams, headers, etc, and the sounds change tremendously even with the same exhaust systems so i haven't heard every combination out there but can say the most common being stock has yet to impress me with any aftermarket catback system.

I agree.. Mustangs sound better but the LS motor in general is more bad ***

Stangs sound good but who cares about the sound. I'd take a car that sounds like a lawn mover that runs 9's over a great sounding car that sounds like it runs 9's but runs 13's.. lol! hell my buddy has a Fox body with a built 306 and a Vortech and 2x the cost of the caqr in mods. It sounds wicked as hell.. it runs low 12's and he's scared to mess with my stock internal LS1 because guess what... it runs low 12's at the same mph for 1/2 the cost! lol!!
and i voted mustangs, they do sound better, but stock for stock and mostly mod for mod, the ls1 are faster. ive had em all, and this car i have now is one of the most fun to drive cars ive had.

its a much more onvolved swap than on the pushrod cars, and it costs a lot more too. 2v's runa round $600 bux for cams, and the 4v are over $1000

my neighbor has a 95 cobra with full exhuast (lts, orx, flowmasters) and my 98 t/a also has full exhuast (lts, ory, magnaflow) and i have to say the t/a defn sounds like it has more grunt to it... then again its a 5.0. but for a 4.slow i would say it sounds better

I personally have had a blown 94 Cobra(set off car alarms just starting it) and a 4.6 GT with flows, and also two LS1s...the mustangs sound amazing but the LS1s sound just MEAN. you know that "I'm gonna eat you" sound. I love that sound more IMO

Actually your wrong on both of those. A crossover is not going to make it any louder, don't know where you got that from. And a crossover is for scavenging not backpressure. An x pipe for instance, creates a vacum with the exhaust pulse on the opposite bank thereby pulling exhaust out of the cylinder. Make sense? A h-pipe does the same thing in theory but isn't near as effective.

i voted mustang, my buddy has a 99-04 mustang with full exhaust and some other work and it sounds way better than mine will probably ever but all he sees is my tailights even mostly stock...
now maybe with a cam and true duals id say ls1 but catback to catback mustang takes it...

I voted Mustang.
I wonder how many people have heard a full exhaust Mustang? Long tubes on the 2V motors are not a common mod like the LS1, but the few that I have heard in person sound amazing!
And if you want to compare cat back to cat back than the Mustang wins hands down. Add longtubes to the LS1 and it makes it A LOT closer in my book. Add a cam to the LS1 and it gets REAL close, especially compared to just a cat back Mustang. But fair is fair and a cammed 5.0 fox body with long tubes is the sexiest, most bad *** sounding car in my opinion.

4v > 2v > ls1 (with the exception being TD's)
one thing some people forget, is most ls1's are a y-pipe setup, while ALL mustangs have true duals, why GM saddled us with this pain in the **** i have no idea, but i rectified the solution ASAP on my car (tsp duals with spiral flows) and imho it now sounds just as good if not better than full exhaust mustangs
