I want a corvette. I found a 2000 m6, black on black 65k miles. It has a custom paint job and aftermarket hood w/ hid non flip up headlights, and corsa catback.
I put a deposit down after a test drive. But the problem is it has a REBUILT title. I saw the reciept of body work done. Just needed a left fender and hood and headlight. Is this gonna be worth 14K?

Take it to a reputable body shop and have a complete inspection done. Depends on outcome. Make sure there is no mechanical damage to the drivetrain from the accident also. I hit a deer years ago in my first T/A. Didn't look like much damage (headlight, front bumper, hood cracked), but insurance company totalled it. The tranny never shifted right and the engine had a horrible tick in it afterwards.

I would say its worth what he is asking. Not my cup of tea, but if you like it and you don't mind the salvage title then go for it. You'd be very lucky to find a 63K Vette with a clear title for an asking price of $13,900, and if you do, it will go very quick.
This is one of those things that you want someone in the know to come with you and do a very thorough inspection of the car. If something on this car doesn't check out, however I would be reluctant to buy it. Keep in mind that salvaged Corvettes are especially hard to sell because most of the people in the market for a Corvette are very particular (Hence the pricing).
There's nothing wrong with a salavaged car IF done right. Some people would never buy one reguardless, but I don't see it that way, especially if you think you'll keep the car for quite some time. I got my Z28 at a salvage auction, fixed it, hit a deer doing 70mph, then fixed it again, and its still as dependable as most cars. I just made a 12 hour trip in it last weekend and no problems at all. To me, its no different than any other Z28, just worth a little less, which is ok because it was cheap in the 1st place.

If it is nearby go and take it for a test drive and if you know a reputable body shop have them look at it to make sure it was repaired right. If everything is fine then go for it but make sure to have it thoroughly checked out. I almost bought an 02 SS and everything looked good but when i took it out the thing shook like it was going to fall apart. I had a good shop look at it and the axles were messed up and never fixed and there was frame damage that they never fixed but rather just put new/used body parts on over. They didnt report it to their insurance so there was no carfax and they had a shady shop repair it. Basically it was a death trap. Again just get it checked out and if your happy with the body repairs and everything seems to be good mechanically then go for it, otherwise pass.

I have never ran into one that does that. They didn't even dock me anything for having a salvage title when I hit a deer in it. They gave me $7,800 for a car that I didn't even have $4,000 in (at that point in time anyway)

Yeah its just one of those situations. Probably no resale value. But I want it to make into a show car. Not an award winner, just something different for people to see at car shows and hopefully like.
I plan on keeping it,... but the way the country is headed who knows, if i'll be able to.

Its actually the guy who owns the body shop thaty did the work. i think they buy salvaged vehicles and fix em for profit.

When I bought mine back from the insurance company, they wouldn't do collision on it anymore, because there is no accurate value on a salvaged car. At least that's what they said at the time. Maybe it would have been different if I had it repaired professionally. Not sure, because the title would still be salvage.

Ive seen worse. I didn't know my car was in a wreck before I got it, and that was after a test drive and a carfax... not until I went to SWITCH insurance companies did they tell me it had a 5500$ claim made on it before I bought it. But The vette in question isn't horrid looking... I agree with everyone else... have a shop check it out first... if its ok... buy it if you like it. It is a pretty good price.
