After starting out and getting a series of 13.7 passes, I switched my launching technique (inital rpms at 3500 instead of 2000, and having the clutch almost engaged at the launch. This netted me:
R/T: .204
60': 2.275
330: 5.953
1/8: 8.929
MPH: 83.07
1000:11.457
1/4: 13.595
MPH: 106.28
That was the best run of the night. I know the car still has more in it, I'm just trying to find ways to coax a few more tenths out without mods. All the car has now is a lid and shifter. And yesterday it was 85 and sort of humid. Any tips or ideas to improve my time just by driving technique, not mods. I want to get good at driving the thing before I start dumping money into it.

Yeah your 60' time sucks, but you will just have to find out what your track can handle. You may have to baby it off the line if you are spinning.
Also give your car some time to cool down after arriving at the track. I know once you get there, you are ready to race, but if it cools for about an hour or so, you could see some big drops in ET.

You said you want to be a better driver, I would really recommend the tires b/c as you gain power in the future they will become more of a necessity. Knowing how your car reacts to different tire pressures for instance will really help you. When I made the switch from true street tires to MT Drag Radials it almost felt like a different car. My launch "style" changed immediately. Just be careful with sticky tires, a stick, and a stock 10 bolt.

I'm definitely not saying that there is no room for improvement. To be honest, I don't even know what an almost factory 6 speed should be doing for 60'. All I am saying is that tires should help you, and they will prove to be even more effective as you add power in the future. Like I said before, though, you will want to be careful using sticky tires on a 6 speed with a 10 bolt. I have run my 10 bolt for years now with no issues...but I also have an auto; many others are not so lucky.

The launching is going to be different for each car, I've never been to a strip yet, I need sticky tires bad. You just need to figure a good RPM where you won't bog off the line but also you don't want it too high that you blow the tires off. And good tires will help as well, just gotta get it down, I've been trying to go to the track but can't really find time after work.
