LS1 sound vs LT1 sound
#61
haha Sorry chavez there are just some things I find funny. My LT1 was CAI/Cat-back and it beat all the other guys with LT1's I knew but every time I went against an LS1 I had to stand up cuz my *** hurt immediately after.

Well personally, I have owned both the lt1 and the ls1 and in stock trim, they both sound great but the Ls1 a little better. I find it sounds more "exotic" if that makes any sense. Just startin' my baby up makes me smile "Love it and leave" it is my motto when it comes to Ls1 and dual dual three inch over the axle exhaust. Mmmmmmmmm....exhaust notes

ok sorry i was reading this and had to chime in. ok my buddy has a 99 ss camaro with gmmg cat-back and that has to be the the best sounding ls1's ive ever heard. yes gmmg is made to do that. but i have to say my lt1 sounds a hell of alot better and all i have exhaust wise now is magnaflow cat-back and a cutout in front of the magnaflow muffler. and on some people saying lt1's r slow. check out the mods in my sig. and lets put it this way i can hold my own with ls1's that have intake and exhaust work. and my car is un touched tuning wise. and lt1's being slow sure lt1's r out dated but ls1's have there flaws too. so?? sorry had to say all that. i stick by my good ol' lt1. LT1'S ALLL THE WAY!!!! ITS THE ONLY WAY!!!
What part of "LT1 are **** compared to LS1s you dont understand?"
Then you go all GAY in caps "LT1s all the way"......
That post has FAIL written all over it....

just cam an LS1 and then try and say it doesnt sound as mean as an LT1 or 4.6
4.6 stock are motors that just do the talk. take the stock massive heads off and they look like a ***** motor hell a GM 4.3 V6 is almost as big

The reason I want to see his is cause I'm looking into a dual 3" ran side-by-side over the Axle where the stock Exhaust would go, I don't think it'll fit though.. The 9" takes up some room under there.
I can't run the typical true Duals that most people have. I'm low enough to scatter a Squirrel with the front Skid Plate on the K-member..I hit one at 100mph and splattered it, all I heard was a metallic thud..lol

LT1 never really did much for me after i heard my first full exhaust LS1. Although ive heard plenty of awesome sounding LT1's.
Heres my car a month ago through a catted y pipe and still an A4. Most every one said the car sounded pretty mean. Now its an M6 with an off road y and sounds 100000x's meaner. I dont have a video of it yet though.

I haven't really heard too many LS1's in person, that have had any exhaust work. My cousin's '98 SS is running stock exhaust, but the muffler was taken out and it's got a little Y put in, so it still has duals coming out the back. Surprisingly, it sounds real mean and doesn't really pop a lot. I've had a few different exhaust experiences on my car.
1. I had Edelbrock shorties, no cat, stock muffler. (Sounded like ****)
2. Edelbrock shorties, cutout in place of cat. (Sounded like **** unless at WOT)
3. Edelbrock shorties, no cat, and a Flowmaster 80 series. (Sounded pretty good, but still a lot of crackle if I took it above 3-3500 rpm and let off)
4. My exhaust now. Pacesetter LT's, 2.5" x-pipe, no cats, single chambers, under the axle to out back. (Sounds absolutely mean all the time, and no more snap, crackle, pop) My cousin loves the sound of it better than his '98 SS and also thinks it would even rival the sound of his old '96 Cobra with an x-pipe and Flowmasters.
IMO, to make either an LS1 or LT1 sound really good, you need to run true duals.

In my opinion nothing REALLY sounds good with a Y-pipe. But gen 1 and 2 small blocks are the worst. The LS1 is decent with a Y pipe of you have headers. I like the way they both sound with true duals, but I love the smooth, exotic, modern sound of the lsx, mod motor, and new hemi. I say that because they all physically have the same firing order, obviously not numerically.
Here's my LS1 with long tubes, Y pipe and flowtech afterburner in a 3" cat back(stock cam at the time)

Here's with the cam and the cutout open

LT1 sounds much better stock. Owned 6 LT1's,Owned 6 LS1 cars and I did love my cammed LS1 SS. But let me just say alot of it is just personal preference. I think stock for stock Lt1 has a advantage but when modded its a toss up
