Default LS1 sound vs LT1 sound

I know there was a discussion about Mustangs sounding good and LS1's not so much. But I was wondering, why does an LT1 sound better than an LS1? I saw a red LT1 last night (pretty sure 100% stock), and it was pulling out of a parking lot and it sounded so much better than my LS1.

It has to do with the firing order and engine properties. I personally do not like the sound of LT1 and SBCs. Now BBCs (Ford chevy or Dodge) are a different story.

Specifically, the LS1 typically sounds like ****. All the other LSx engines sound good, or can easily be fixed to sound good.

Most LS1's, I've heard clips on, even with a full exhaust, don't sound great, but better than stock.

I look at it this way: Better to now sound quite as good and still kick major ***, than to sound badass and be **** slow.

All ls1's and lt1's sound the same on start up, they all sound like they "crack open".

Now slow V8's sounding better...I agree! My 5.0 crown vic sounds awsome! lol

Sound is pretty subjective. Sorry but I'll take my cammed stroker sound over any Mustang any day.

ive owned 2 mustangs, and yes they sounded BADASS. But in my own opinion i always though LS1's soundded alot better than the lt1's??

i mean, mustangs sound really good, but only a LITTLE bit better than a full exhaust ls1

It has to do with the iron block vs the all aluminum one in the LS1s. The resonance produced by an all iron block provides a deeper rumble. Firing order is responsible in part for the difference (between Ford and GM)

I dunno, I don't have much basis for comparison, but being a small-block guy my whole life, and just now getting a cammed LS1, I think it sounds pretty sweet. I've never driven a stock LS1, and my dad had a stock LT1 with a Flowmaster. I love the sound of my LS1 over most anything I've had though. It idles as bumpy as any smallblock I've ever had, but full throttle with the true dual Borla's, the sound is almost exotic! Just sounds so sweet to me! Don't know how to explain it, I guess almost a lot more high-pitched? Oh well, it's nothing like what I've ever owned before, I'll say that much!

It's hard to beat the sound of a cammed true dual ls1 but bein a mustang guy at heart the cammed 5.0 will always be sweet music to me....

i had old small blocks all my life. I like the sound of a ls1 myself. mainly the top end sound on a LS1. and i like hearing a ls1 or ls2 vette with a good exhaust. Mustang sounds ok manily just sounds like they are driving though a tunnel all the time
