9" or Heads/Cam???
Hey guys, I am hoping you could help me out with making a decision. I have some cash to spend on my 01 SS and am trying to figure out what to spend my money on. The car is currently bolt on's m6 with a stock rear w/3.73's.
I am looking to either buy a heads/cam/intake or clutch package or a new 9". My rear is not blown but I am thinking long term and know it will go soon especially with some power adders...
What would you do if you were in my posistion?
1. Heads/cam/Fast 92 setup
OR
2. Moser 9" with all the goodies
OR
3. Heads/cam/clutch
PLEASE VOTE!!!

Think long term. If you want to make power get the 9". Plus while your still bolt ons you can launch very hard with it. If you get a 9" you can launch harder without worrying about breaking it and get your full potential out of your car.

if you love going drag racing and drag race alot, go 9" & boltons. If your more of a street car guy like me, go H/C/clutch. I had 4:10s installed in my weak 10 bolt and I have over 40 passes on them and ALOT of street races with them. I was NA making 463rwhp at the time. If you know how to baby the 10 bolt, it will last longer than you think.
I just didnt see the point of dropping $2500 when I only go to the strip a few times a year.

do heads/cam/clutch....then save up for the fast 92 setup, and be easy. If it breaks then get the rear. But i might be saying this because its exactly what im doing LOL. hopefully have the fast setup soon.

9" all the way
H/C will be fun and all, but you will splinter your 10 bolt in no time and end up spending the money on the rear anyway. Might as well buy the rear first, then once you get the H/C you will be able to enjoy it without worry.
While you are at it, get a bit more gear, 4.10's are your friend

Heads and cam with clutch...my stock clutch wouldnt hold up to stock power with drag radials, you can easily drop the motor/trans from below, do the clutch, heads and cam and put it back in. Intake is easily done in the car later on. Plenty of people are still running alot of power with the stock rear, kepp your oil changed, learn how to launch, and run drag radials instead of slicks and it will last. Next mod would be a 9" though, save up for a new one and maybe while saving you will find a good low mile used one.

Build it once.
Build it right.
Build it strong.
THEN drop in the power adders.
I can't tell you how many people I've met who say things like, "It was fast until I broke the..."

i'm in the same boat as you bro, i put H/C/Clutch because you can still have some street fun just gotta hold off on the track time for a little while. Altho imma go Cam, Clutch, Rear and leave the heads off for a lil while personally. Good power with the safety parts since it's my DD still
