try a search. its mostly just a package.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE BETWEEN A WS6 AND A BASE TRANS AM. the ws6 package is just a looks package

Incorrect, there is a SLIGHT performance difference in both suspension and power.

i agree, i believe the differences in the suspension were the sway bars i think lol and obviously the power difference came with the ram air hood with the higher air box.

not really
yes the suspension is upgraded (bilstein) but not on all of them. that was another option.
there is not a power difference with the hood (unless debaffeled) and/or the air box unless at a very high speed.
his has an ls6 intake so it will have more performance than say a 99

If it has anymore power than the 98-00' than it would be minimal. The 98-00 had bigger cams than the 01-02 which makes up the difference from the ls6 intake.

But I I dont think the WS6 has more power than a regular T/A... All LS1s came with 350hp (no matter what they were rated at...) I think the WS6 was only a looks and suspension upgrade

Also the SS/WS6's had a different catback so they DID make more power.

Yes, either way you look at it there IS a difference in performance, even if it is just a minuscule difference.

350? Really? Really? Thats why most cars with small bolt ons make less than 350whp right? Get your facts straight before you talk.

WS6 stand for wicked slow 6-speed. LOL no really the ws6 was put on car for SLP. Different suspension and performance mods.SlP took a Trans Am put some parts on it and slapped a few badges on it. WS6. In the same sence as SS Camaro is SLP beefed up Z28.

Ummmm, you should probally get your facts straight before making yourself look stupid. Big difference between rated Hp at the motor by manufactures and Hp to the wheels.

The LS1 has been known / is known / will always be known for being notoriously under rated from the factory.

There is no "meaning" behind WS6. It doesn't stand for anything, it's an internal General Motors RPO Code; just like Z28, Z71, etc.

Lets see if I can shed some light on the subject.

The ws6 badge goes back to the 3rd gen cars and yes it was a suspension upgrade over the regular firebird.

In the lt1 cars the ws6 badge was also a suspension upgrade and it also was a performance upgrade from the 285 hp rating to 305 hp

In the ls1 cars I don't think it was a suspension upgrade it was an appearance and performance upgrade. The power was upped from 305 hp in the firebird to 320 hp for the ws6 cars.

I don't know about the 3rd gen cars but in the lt1 cars SLP did the performance upgrades such as a different catback, ram air hood, and why they did this I can't understand for the life of me was to port the exhaust manifolds. Just put headers on the damn cars!

For the ls1 cars Gm didn't have SLP do them. GM did the ws6 and ss camaros themselves. Just look at the stock catback on a z28 camaro and an ss camaro. The z28 has the black flat-looking rectangular tips and the ss has the same catback with chrome rolled lip tips. It did have a performance upgrade with the ram air hood. In the 99 and 2000 years it was rated at 315 horse because of the ls1 intake and in 01 and 02 it was rated 320 for the ls6 intake. The cam difference between the 2 was negible due to the intake changes.

I could be wrong about this on but I think in 1998 there were no ws6 or ss camaros. Just like ford had a n/a cobra in 99 but no cobra in 2000-02 and then came with the s/c 03 cobras.

The WS6 was not made by SLP; that was the Firehawk and Z28 SS. WS6 cars were made by ASC and did not have "optional upgrades" like the SS; all ASC WS6 cars came with the full WS6 package.

Wrong on alot of accounts, the largest being the SLP didn't do the LS1 cars, they still did the SS, and the WS6 was partially SLP and partially ASC, GM did neither one regardless. There were also 98s of both cars. The SS didn't necessarily have the same catback with different tips, there were catback options. WS6 still meant suspension upgrades as well with the LS1 cars. I could keep picking it apart, but in summary, your post never should have been made because it is so full of incorrect claims
