Default Oil pressure too low at idle

When I have been driving a long time, usually, my oil pressure will begin to plummet at idle. It either goes really low or hits 0 and the check guages light will come on. When I start to drive, the pressure goes back up and the light goes away. Any ideas here?

Try running a thicker oil see if that helps... Probly going to need a new oil pump in the near future.

I just picked up a Melling high volume oil pump. If installing this doesn't fix my problem, then what else could it be?

If that doesn't fix the problem you could have worn out main or rod bearings. But you would probly have some knocking.

That's good to hear, because I have no knocking/ticking issues. What else will I need to do the oil pump? Seals right?

I would do a oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket and seal, and water pump gaskets. This is a must... NEW oil pump O ring and a NEW crank pully bolt.
