Question Fumoto Oil Pan Drain Valve

I have the Fumoto oil pan drain valves on all my cars. I recently bought a 2002 TransAm and would like to get one for it too. I saw the size is F107 but that an adapter might be needed. If anybody has installed one of these on their LS1 oil pans, please let me know if we need the adapter too. I'd prefer to hear advice from somebody that has the same engine rather than from a salesperson!

By the way, I do not recommend buying these through the manufacturer's web site because other places such as Summit Racing sell them for less. The last time I bought one I got it from http://www.lubespecialist.com/fumoto/main.htm.

I know a lot of guys who run these and are very happy with them. I ended up going with a similar device by Fram called the SureDrain, but it's not as easy to use though. I didn't realize I could've gotten the Fumoto in Canada from a few trucking suppliers, I thought it was mail order only up here, which is why I bought the Fram Suredrain from Canadian Tire.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I've used the Fumoto for years in my other cars and I have been happy with it. The only complaint I have is that the oil drains a little slower because it has to flow through an opening with a smaller diameter. But that is cool, I typically rotate the wheels while the oil drains.

I saw the SureDrain and it is less expensive but I think I would not like it as much as the Fumoto.

I'll order another Fumoto and get the adapter thing. At worst I won't need the adapter...

The slow draining of these setups is a bit of a pain, but only if you're trying to rush. If you're the type who normally lets the oil drain for an hour, then just as much oil will still drain out.

Post Adapter not necessary

The Fumoto drain valve arrived today with the adapter. I changed the oil and replaced the drain bolt with the drain valve. The adapter was not needed.

Sure it is, but not listed per say for that engine, all 96 and on pontiacs:
You are here: Home > Pontiac > <01> 1996 & on, all engines WARNING!Some oil pans are designed with recessed drain plug port. If part of the valve hits the oil pan before it could be fully tightened DO NOT install the valve! Adapters are available for some models(F-104, F-106, & F-107).
F-107 Regular Valve Our Price: $23.95
Size 12mm-1.75
F-107N Valve (w/Nipple) Our Price: $26.95
Size 12mm-1.75
The prev poster didnt need an adapter so I didn't include those..YMMV!
