Default Cant get clutch return spring in!!!

No matter what I do, I cannot get the spring to go into the clutch pedal groove. I can get the spring into the hinges but no matter how hard I try it wont catch on to the pedal.Ive been compressing the spring by pulling on a vise grip but its not catching to the pedal at all......!!

Did you remove the arm of the master cylinder from the pedal? Also, if I remember correctly, there is a clutch position sensor/switch that is normally pressed down when the clutch is released (sorry I dont remember what it's called). You need to remove that device from it's mounting place to be able to swing the pedal forward more.

I did remove the master cylinder rod to the pedal but did not remove the cruise control sensor switch. Ill have to give that a shot. The thing is the spring comes so close but it feels like it just not long enough to catch the pedal groove

I kno the pain. I was upside down in the drivers seat for about 3 hours trying to figure that out a couple of months ago. Let me know if that works!

It won't go in that way. You need to put one of the side prongs in first. Then the middle section in to the pedal. Get out of the car, rest, let the blood drain out of your head. Then... the tough part...

I get the last side prong in by using a 10" pair of needle nose pliers. With one prong and the middle in, you may find that slightly depressing the pedal makes it easier to line up.

I dont think you really even need it any way. My Tick Master Cylinder instructions told me to remove it. I did and have no probs at all.

I got it in!! I did the right hinge side in first then the clutch pedal groove and lastly pushed in the other side hinge(toughest part) in. I must admit I was shocked that it only took me ten minutes to complete it today. I honestly would of just gave up but I spent $40+ on the spring $10+ on the bushing that goes on pedal groove and I never was able to purchase the hinge bushings because the dealership had no idea what I was talking about so I had to make my own. And their was to much play at the top of pedal to the extent were the cruise control didn’t engage and at times it felt like the clutch wasn’t fully engaged. Cuts and bruises aside it time for a test drive

Congrads. Your pedal will feel much better because of it.

jattgunman - I have a spare handy. Do you want to stop by and change it out for me?

Man that’s ridiculous that your spring just popped. The best tip I got for you is be patient and try this method https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...tall-tips.html or the other method of getting the right hinge then pedal groove and then left hinge.

My suggestion for if it breaks is to adjust out your cruise control switch to the point that it takes away the slop from the pedal. Left mine like that until I installed the tick master.

Another note, I bought a replacement and it lasted barely a year. Not worth the effort or pain of installing it.

Yea, this last one lasted me around a year. I've had the car for 10 and this is my 3rd spring to break. I think I'm going to commission a spring company to make some new springs out of another material and see if its more durable. Every spring brakes in the same place.
