Angry interior door crack????

got a question that arose today when i noticed other f-bodies with the same problem. the inside of my door at the top about 8 inches from the back i have a crack forming. there has never been any kind of misuse or weight applied to cause this so it ws a mystery to me for awhile. well today i got in my friends car and noticed that both of his are cracked. so i drove around my work to look in other cars and i found one more. now this was coming up about 15 to 20% of the time. is there a re-call on this or is there something known to cause the defect. i cant believe i have never heard of this before. let me know if others are having this problem too.

just to clear thigns up after reading my post....it is a crack in the plastic molding just inside of the window....the main part of the door trim.

It gets really hot inside these vehicles, especially yours, since it's black.

funny how the only people that have seen this so far are from texas where it is hot. illinois guys might not have to worry about it. i know that i purposely ordered this TA differently because of the heat. all my other ones were black on black? anybody else with problem. i only have 14000 miles on her and this might be a warranty thing????

Heat could certainly be the reason looking at the locations of the poeple with the issue.

Honestly I've never seen any 4th gen with this issue around my area ever. And I frequent many car shows/cruise-ins and see tons of F-bodies. I've also had lots of friends with high milage/older (and newer) 4th gens that don't have this condition.

It must be the southern heat...

I thought I was the only one....Both of my door panels cracked. True my car spent most of its life in Florida but the cracks began about a year after moving to Wisconsin. I havent seen any recall on this, but if you find something, that would be awesome!

About fell out of my chair when I read this post, I have the same thing. Both doors slowly started cracking, now it is split and not a pretty site. How much for new door panels and are there any ideas for a fix other than a new panel ?

I wish someone would post a pic. I've never seen this crack before on any 4th gen no matter how old/high milage.

I'm guessing this is only a Firebird/TA issue? No Camaros do this?

Any pics?

My passenger side door developed a crack in it (exact same place as everone elses) a while back (like 3-4 years ago) The car was still under warranty at the time, so the dealer replaced the panel and I haven't had any problems since then But it is weird that so many people have had similar cracks in their door panels! dang!

EDIT: AACCKK!!! I just double checked my car doors for cracks, and I found one on the drivers side now! it's only about ( 2 ) inches long, but it is definitely the same type of crack that was on the passenger side This sucks

guys, send me pics of the cracks. i'll fill file them all, take them to the dealership, and if i get mine fixed I'll update the list as being delt with and send it on to the next in line. maybe with the number of problems we can get something done about this? The warranty should take care of it but let me know who all has problems. I am friends with the local salesman here in town so maybe he can help us out.
also, for those that dont have a clue what we are talking about, i will post the first pic i recieve unless someone else wants to show theirs.
