Sercurity system won't let me start my car?
I know the intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose but I only have one good idea and before i try it I wanted to see wht you guys thought...
Every once in ahwile (usually right after ive run my car) ill get in it and the security light will be on and when i try to start it (yes my clutch pedal is all the way in ) i get a no crank condition. Once the light goes off (usually takes 2-3 mins) than i turn the key and it starts right up. My only idea is to get the key "reflashed" at the dealership to make sure its putting out the right code to my computer. Any other ideas?

The ignition cylenders with the passlock sensor are natorious for failing in these from poor design, the wires break off the housing. Prolly time for a new cylender.

Make sure the key pellet is clean. If that doesn't work I'd do a quick search on VATS Bypass - putting a resistor matching the key pellet value in the connector under the steering column.

so your saying if i bypass the key pellets resistance with a resistor in the wiring under the steering colum, that will make my key pellet unnessacary? wht about getting a new key?

If you want get it checked at the dealer, i did and its free, when i found out the key was good i knew it was the cylinder i just did the bypass per shoe box 's site saved 300 bucks, i just bought the electical connections, i had wire and my old soldering gun layin around. By the way, my car started the exact same way yours did it will get worse then you'll go out to start your car and no matter how long you wait it won't start.

So your saying 1) get the key checked for accurate resistance signal 2)A)if the key is not good is it possible to just get a new key and have it owrk like it should? 2)B) If the key is working right and it is my ignition cylinder can you direct me to a write up on how to do the bypass properly? Any other possible issues in the rare case that these options aren't what the issue is? I am a proffessional mechanic... just not with cars lol I work on diesel trucks and tractors so the fancy security stuff is new to me
