Default What is a good replacement starter for an LS1 F-body?

So my starter is going bad and I need to replace it. I'd like to get a good replacement and I was wondering if some are better than others. The car is mostly street driven. I'd like any input on which one to choose and where a good place to pick one up would be.

All remans are about the same, all new ones are about the same. Reman quality varies greatly. Where you get it doesn't matter.

if your gonna be running stock just get a reman one. if you plan to start modding might as well upgrade with a MSD or Powermaster.

This is the one I put on a few months agao when my starter motor mount snapped off the starter housing...which in turn then snapped off my starter mount on my block. HUGE pain in the ***...trust me.

This starter has been great, and powerful. But it also provides a cure for the snapping of the small mounting tab on the older style starters that F-Body's all have. It has TWO long bolts, not a short and a long bolt. The mount on the starter has been beefed up like the other side. This is what fixes the breaking of starter housing and block mounts from happening.

And its quite cheap:

FWIW...I know more than a handful of people that have had nothing but problems and failures with the MSD starters. Someone else posted a thread here within the past month with another bad one.

Oh by the way is it worth buying a heat shield for the starter when I put headers on?
