I may drive it tomorrow and then I'll check for leaks.

Maybe chop an inch off your hose and start fresh.
You can always get fancy and use a tube sleeve, tube nut, and flare the line with a 37* flaring tool to convert it to -6AN if you aren't happy with the end result. Mine seems to be working well so far with push-loc hose and fittings.

Was the rubber part of your metal/rubber line messed up?
In my case, I bypassed the inline power steering cooler before I figured out a good way to add a different type of cooler (thanks to this thread). During that process, I cut the original rubber line short and just ran it back to the reservoir, which made it too short to reach my frame rail cooler. Poor planning on my part

How much fluid would you say a flush would consist of? I don't remember seeing anything in here about it...

I think I had 4 new bottles on hand and it uses almost all of it.

I forgot to mention we completed this a few weeks ago. I used the Jegs Derale frame cooler 13224 kit (# 259-13224). Everything hooked up, BUT we needed a union since one stock line was too short. We mounted it right behind the airdam as well. I also bought a new radiator hose and removed that POS stock cooler.

I have only put maybe 10 miles on it since, so I can't say if any fluid is coming out of the cap. Fluid has always come out since I got the car back in 2005. Hopefully this prevents that and extends the life of the system.

Thanks again for the thread!

Can you post a pic of your Derale? I think folks are curious to see (I am) what it looks like after the Permacool unit went off the market.

Here's about the best pic I can get without putting the car in the air.

What type of temps are you seeing with that unit JB? Looks pretty snazzy I like how it is more compact than the one posted higher up.

I've only drove it once since I put it on, and that was to bring it home. No temps as of yet.

Maybe you can take it off and spray paint it black? Its not like anyone is going to notice it under the car anyways.

I'm sure the Derale is coated with a space age high tech thermally absorbent epoxy polymer. If it isn't, don't tell me and I'll still be envious.

How did you splice the two hoses together in the first picture?

Did you use a regular barb fitting? It looks like you are using a female and male connector that fastens together.

Anyone have the part number for the upper radiator hose without the power steering cooler? I need to order it online since I'm deployed and want to have it waiting for me when I get home so I don't have to make many trips to the store for my project.

E71981 at either Advance Auto Parts or Autozone. You want an upper radiator hose for a '98 Z28. I doubt you'll have to order it, though. Most auto parts stores should have it in stock. A quick search shows several stores have it in inventory near my house.

It doesn't have to be from a 98 Z28. Advanced Auto has them online for any model year.
