OR
You have a sensor issue in one of more wheel hubs.
Any codes?

on my 1994 daily driver Firebird the abs inops light came on and it turned out that the center mounted brake light had both of the bulbs burned out. You might want to check yours

Plugs? This won't be an engine issue, the problem is either the speed sensors (cheapest, easiest), could be the ABS module (can be pricey), or even better it could be like 'LS said and it's a wheel/tire size issue. Or you could have the car scanned for body codes at a dealer.
'LS, quick question: shouldn't my lights be coming on too after switching from 16" stockers to 17" speedlines?

Mine used to come on when I would drive > 90 MPH after I first bought the car. About a year ago, in the Texas heat, the lights would come on after driving for a while, regardless if I stayed under 90 MPH or even 60 MPH. About 6 months ago, they just stayed on all the time, no matter what.
I checked all bulbs, they were good.
I had the same OAH tires front and rear.
I did a front suspension overhaul and replaced the hubs - still on.
I checked all the wiring and grounds - still on.
About 4 weeks ago I found someone with a used ABS module they were willing to sell for $75. Instead of replacing the entire unit and going through the hassle of bleeding everything, I just replaced the EBCM on the ABS module. You remove (2) connectors, the sensor harness, and the pump power supply. Then it is (6) torx screws to pull the EBCM from the module and swap it out.
My lights haven't come on since and I can decide when I want to take off traction control. If everything aside from the ABS module is checked off your list, try and find an ABS module from the same year as yours and make sure you verify if you have a 3 channel or 4 channel system.
3 channel for 2 sensors up front, 1 sensor on the pumpkin, no traction control.
4 channel for 2 sensors up front, 2 sensors out back, with traction control.
