The residue is oil mixed with water, Happens alot in winter especially if the car doesnt warm up fully or you drive short distances.

Just changed the oil sending unit and pressure went up 10psi or so. 5.7L LS1. And i ALWAYS let it warm up to at least 160. Possible pcv hose leak?? The drivers side rea 90 elbow looks worn and leakable. Its a 98 btw

You had allot of moisture in the oil, making it thinner, making the oil pressure lower.

The yellow residue is emulsified oil, that is oil mixed with water.

It is common in winter months. Have you been driving the car in short trips? It takes a longer drive, maybe 20 minutes or so, to heat the engine enough to warm the tail pipes and bring everything up to temp.

An engine has a lot of air space inside, and when it cools down the water in that air condenses out. Once you drive the car and get it good and hot all that moisture is driven out through the exhaust. And a little bit can end up on your oil cap.
