VATS fix with a twist
So Im sure that any of us that have owned a GM with a VATS style key have run into the no start issue. Well I have made multiple bypass plugs for people, so that the key resistor doesnt need to be utilized anymore. But I just finished making a nicer one for my car and incorporated a disconnect switch. Figured if I was ever in a "questionable" area of the world, you can flip the switch and the car wont start. Obviously the box will be hidden but still able to be quickly switched on or off.
Here is the finished piece.

You are correct. GM made I believe 15 different key "codes", it was just a different resistor value for the key. I have a chart from GM with different years/model/code values. So you take that and measure the resistence throught the original key and piece together some resistors to plug in the bypass.

Well I finally got around to installing the box this weekend. Works great and I couldnt be happier. You cant even see where its placed and from the drivers seat I can switch it on and off.
