Default Mobile 1 Extended performance 15,000 mile oil???

Has anyone used and driven their car with Mobile 1 Extended Performance oil with good or bad outcomes driving it over 10,000 + miles. It says you can change your oil every 15,000 miles. I don't know if I could drive that long with out flipping out about how long its been since I've chanced the oil. I did just buy it for my DD, a Nissan Altima, with a Mobile 1 filter. I figure if i don't trust it or get bad feed back from ya'll that I could get at least 5000 miles out of it. I drive a lot and it feels like I have to change my oil all the time. So, I'm hoping that this will help me save time and money in the long run. Thanks

FWIW my buddy just had to have major engine work done on his 2007 Silverado due to sludge buildup. Had to have all the lifters replaced. He ran synthetic oil every 15K (Amsoil). His truck has 72K miles on it- original owner if that gives you any insight.

One thing I don't get these days is this massive push to not change your oil. It's like everyone's goal is to see how long they can wait between oil changes. Nothing against you OP, it is well advertised by companies as you mentioned.

However, an oil change costs what? $20 if you do it yourself? I just don't see the need to push it. And yes, I've seen those synthetic oils after 5K miles and they were black as sin. I personally would never drive my car 15K miles between oil changes no matter what oil is in it.

You're not supposed to go over the manufactures recommended interval regardless of the oil you use (so in the case of an F body, about 5,000 miles). As far as I know, 15K mile oil just means you can go 15k if the mfr allows it (like BMW, Benz, Audi, etc). I wouldnt leave the same oil in that long, 15k is a loooong time for an older car like we have....

i agree, i would just go by manufactures specs on the mileage. 15k between oil changes is a lot. I would never go more than 5 on my DD and i do it at 3 on the camaro.

You MAAAAAY be able to get away with changing the filter and topping it off every 5k - but personally I dont want my engine to be Mobils un-sponsored test dummy.

15,000 miles.......In My Opinion.....

Thats the most ridiculous thing anyone can do to an engine. Engines shed fine pieces of metal their entire lives, mine still had powderized metal shavings on the oil drain plug at 170,000 miles. It gets by the oil filter and some oil in the engine stays in the pan and swirls around and splashes around.......why on earth would anyone want to leave that **** in their engine for 15,000 miles.

Hilarious.......I can't believe anyone would even consider it.

For GODS sake, if you do this.....at least change the oil filter every 3,000 miles anyway to minimize the wear internally.

Its just TOO DAMN cheap NOT to do oil changes every 3,000........

Ya'll are an opinionated bunch that doesn't hold back uh, but thanks for the honesty. Most likely I wont go over 6,000 miles, because it just feels too taboo to me at THAT number. I travel a lot on the highway in my car and I'm changing my oil every other month and I don't have that much time. I just need to stop and make time cause it doesn't take that long from buying everything to taking the old oil back to be recycled. Oh ya, this is going in my Nissan Altima with 38,000 miles not my Camaro. I would never do that to my baby.

What a bunch of nonsense how a company can feed you crap like this. 15k miles? Ask Mobile how there 15k oil will keep out moisture or dirt better than any other oil.

Well actually I use the 15,000 mile Mobil1 oil and have for at least a couple of years, I guess as long as it's been out. I change my oil every 10,000 miles and replace my filter every 5,000 miles. My car has 310,000 miles on it and had a Top end rebuild last year at 248,000 miles. So my vote is YES it works Great for me.

Now you can listen to other peoples OPINIONS or you can go with my Facts, it's entirely up to you.

I wouldn't go more than 10k miles. But highway miles are easy on oil. But I still wouldn't go more than 10k mile intervals.

I've always run synthetic (Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec) in my cars. My Trans Am has 185,000mi on it and no problems whatsoever. I change oil about every 10,000mi, but it is sometimes less. I'll check the dipstick and if there's the slightest bit of particulate in the oil when I rub it between my fingers, or it gets dark, I'll change it sooner. I'm sure oils can last much longer than that if you do a lot of highway miles...and they can break down sooner with city driving, dust, and infrequent use (age).
