I just changed the sparkplugs on my formula today and it was my first time changing sparkplugs (on any car). It took me about 3 hours to change them nuber 8 plug took me about 45 min to change.

I did it once... then the next two times I paid the 100 or so to have someone else do it.

It might have been mentioned, but I have heard reports of places not changing #8 and saying they did.

I have always done mine. Got it down to about an hour last time with the right tools. Now without EGR it should be cake.

I've done this stuff numerous times, it's easy and all accessible from the top. I'd say 1 hour tops to get all of them out and that is struggling. header bolts are far bigger pains in the ***, and even they aren't a problem if you've got a small 1/4 ratchet you can fit in the back; it seems like there isn't much room but there is, you've just gotta manuever it past the tight spot and you easily have 60* of ratcheting movement to remove the bolt.

Wow this post has been active for over a year now, that must be a record.

Just change the plugs yourself people, there of plenty of tips on this board to make it easier, not to mention the great sense of self satisfaction and accomplishment you have when you finish and start that baby up.
If nothing else you need to do it at least once so you can appriciate how much work it is for your mechanic, or your buddy.
Its not easy, and your arms look like you fought with the tazmanian devel himself afterwards, but you can all do it.

I did my plugs and wires myself, took about 3 hours total. Of course my car still has EGR, AIR, and stock manifolds, and I have a strut tower bar that needed to be removed.

I actually ended up putting in the #8 plug from the bottom, it was the only way I would get my hand back in there.

I used AC Delco Iridiums and Granatelli wires, the car runs very well.

Had a shop change the ones on my truck, a few months later when I had some time I pulled them out to check them. They had only replaced 7. Paid for AC Delco plats too. Will change the ones on the car myself.

a good trick i learned was to get a 5 inch piece of tubing small enough to get on the end of the spark plug. with this, you can thread it with your hand into that #8 plug a LOT easier. this will get it in pretty tight but not tight enough to strip it. then you can finish it off with a ratchet.
