Default Camaro antenna mast part #

Does anyone know the correct part number for the antenna mast for a 2002 Camaro SS? I recently had mine replaced under warranty for chipping paint, and the one they replaced it with is completely different.

Different in that it's got a hex style base and the wire twisting up the mast? This seems to be all that GM stocks over the parts counter for replacement parts. The stock smooth one still comes on some cars off the assembly line but I couldn't get one over the parts counter either.

In the end, I decided to just ditch the mast and built a nice thread cap, makes it look like a power antenna. I don't really use the radio though (just the CD player) so reception was not a concern.

Why not install the power antenna from the Poncho? It's a bolt in, but you'll have to wire it yourself.

One day I will. I actually have a brand new TA power antenna assembly that I got for free in exchange for some work I did for a friend. Eventually I'll hook it up and probably use a 'vert top switch in the center console to control the up/down power so I can leave it down when the CD player is on.

Not a big priority for me though, I basically only use the CD player when I'm in that car, and for the few times I want to use the radio being right next to Chicago means that most broadcasts are strong enough that I pick 'em up fine even without an antenna mast....

You can get the smooth style antenna masts at quite a few different auto parts stores. I know I've seen them at Advance, Auto Zone and NAPA.

I've tried those on previous cars that needed a new one. They seemed to chip almost instantly. I think the paint/coating is cheaper than what comes from the factory.

Yes, that's exactly what they put on mine. It sucks that GM is not producing a lot of original parts for these cars anymore.

This is what I was given, but it is not the same. I guess the original antennas have been discontinued. Bummer
