calling all lowered cars

calling all lowered cars
I have just recently lowered my 98 Z28 about 1.5 inches. This makes it very difficult to jack up the car, because the ground effects get in the way. The only jack that remotely fits is the stock scissor jack, and it won't get up high enough to put the car on jack stands. I have seen the post telling how to build your own ramps, but they have to be way too long. Any other ideas?

jack the car up with the jack that comes with the car to make clearance for a larger jack. then with the bigger one, jack the car so that both front (or back) tires are far enough off the ground for the stands.
edit, last night i put my catback on, and the only jack i had was a monster 3 ton one which barley fit under a stock height car...so thats what i did

I'm down 1" and can get my fat Craftsman under the side to
do a "racing lift" if I tug up the rear fender arch and push it
under with my foot. This is a 'vert, though; don't try that on
a non-reinforced car.

I have the same problem. Nothing has worked, even the low profile jacks. I'm stuck to using the factory jack too. The factory jack will go high enough to get 3 ton jack stands under all 4 corners (2-3 clicks up). I usually destroy two stock sissor jacks a year. I'm lowered about 1.75" now.

I would never use the stock scissor jack to put my car on jackstands, I just dont trust it. The way I do it is put a jack under the side (nascar style as already mentioned) raise the car a little then positition the jack under the front or rear and once the car is up far enough I remove the other jack. Luckily I have 3 aluminum racing jacks that we use on our racecar so that makes things a little easier. Here is a link to a 3000 lb aluminum racing style jack. We also have one of theese. They are very low profile and are all aluminum so it only weighs about 35 lbs. Pretty nice for the money.

All of those are great ideas. Thanks guys, I will definitely use those ideas. Here's another question. What if I get a flat on the side of the road? I can't carry around a floor jack. Any solutions?

Ha...good point, never though of it that way. With my car the stock jack will go high enough to lift both tires from either the front or back jack points, I've even lifted from the center of the rail. It wouldn't be smart doing that on the side of the road without a jack stand though. I would throw a can of fix a flat in the car, it could come in handy if you get a flat in the middle of no where or if you are in a bind. And you could get another stock jack, you can usually get them for $10 on Ebay.
The pic in my sig is just with Zaino. I tried a Menzerna/Zaino stack and it came out even better. Here are a few of pics of the stack, the paint looks liquid. It wasn't a bad way to kill 14 hours.
