AFAIK, the pumps are the same on the '00 as well. I beleive the update came in '01.
PS. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the older pumps are '****', and not that many motors have locked up in those cars due to oil pump failures. Actually, there are plenty of people just on this board alone with '98-'00 cars that have stock shortblocks and stock oil pumps without any issues....
What sort of PSI are you seeing?
Also, what brand & weight of oil are you using?
And is the car an M6 or A4? (reason for asking is a higher idle speed on the M6 cars gives them a slightly higher psi at idle)

Oil pressure is a little under 40 when warm, should be around 50-60 when warm, correct? Is a cammed M6 with idle around 850-900rpm.5w30 Castrol (Non-synthetic) Wish I would have changed this went I did cam swap. How much am I risking the engine with a low oil pressure?

Little under 40psi at warm idle is just fine, nothing to worry about at all.

My stock '98 pump in my Z28 makes about 30-35psi at warm idle with stock A4 idle of 550rpm in gear. It drops as low as 25-30psi after a beating, then comes back up to 30-35 after the oil cools a bit.
Am I worried? Nope, not at all.

PS. I've been using M1 10W30 for those readings.
