Backfiring? Shooting Flames? Help me out!
I was cruising tonight after work and pulled up next to a buddy of mine. He rolled down his window and told me there was a new Mustang behind that had been messing with him for the last 5 miles and asked me to blow his doors off for him (he drives an Eclipse so we know he couldnt do it). Well the stang pulls up next to me and we go from 2nd gear. After the race my buddy calls me and tells me I backfired in every gear and I was spitting 3 foot flames out the back. We raced one more time and right after I let off my SES light started flashing so I know im backfiring. I couldnt count how many times it flashed because I was driving so I dont know what cylinder it is but any ideas whats causing it? This is the first time the SES light has actually flashed but I have been told before by folks that when Im at wot and shifting hard im spitting flames out of the exhaust. Odometer is at 28K with stock plugs and wires. Any help would be appreciated!

Especially considering you are doing 100 shot on stock plugs

does anybody else think flames out the exhaust are cool?
hahaha
what did the old street rod guys do, something about putting a spark plug in the tailpipe to ignite the exhaust?
that is sweet
