I started seamfoam in my cars a few years ago when I took my z28 in because I was getting pinging for no reason. Nothing could be found off in the tune, so I tried the seamfoam in the line that goes into the intake near the throttle body. The car smoked for a long time, threw a multiple missfire code, after the car started running smooth again(about 5 minutes), took it for a drive. No pinging since... I swear by doing this and this was on a 02 Z28 with only 20k miles. I don't use it in my fuel though, I really like Lucas fuel cleaner/lubricant and have had good results with it. Now with the Z28 I use the seamfoam once a year to keep it clean. I've always changed my oil at 4k or under intervals and only use mobile 1 10w-30. I've never had a issue except the code it throws off every time and I just reset it. I've done all my cars and friends cars and never a issue. I honestly think octane booster is worse on your o2 sensors and plugs than Seamfoam..using regular octane booster caused a strange buildup on my plugs and I've had some issues with my 02 sensors(looks like inside of a oyster shell, a pearl looking multi color coating).

Does it have to be the neg.? I thought it could be either one.

eh...does it really matter? i'm telling you to do the negative the positive carries are the charge in it while the negative is just the grounding terminal. this means the positive could kill you if you mess up and the negative won't since there's no current going through it negative = safer.

Well, checking my car in. 67,000 miles on the clock, had Syntec since 37k miles, and had dino oil changes on the dot every 3k miles previous to that.

Used half a can in the booster line, some Deep Creep spray in the intake, let it sit for 30 minutes, then took it on a "spirited" drive. Got a 3 second puff of smoke the first time I got on it, and after that, nothing. I was a bit disappointed after reading about some of the "End of the World" smoke clouds some people had

Anyway, car idles a lot smoother now, the exhaust at idle has a much throatier sound, and throttle response has increased.

i changed the oil for 50miles, then i re did it and am going to change it after another 100. im considereing doing the booster intake cleaning 1 more time.

i think i can tell improvement in the throttle response
when i changed it again aft3r 100 miles, the oil was clean. so i guess it did 99% of the work with half a can and 50 miles to the synthetic oil change

yessir. some people throw a code because the PCM thinks it has a misfire since you have all that liquid flooding your cylinders. after a few minutes, the "misfire" feeling will go away, but the code still stays. disconnect the negative terminal of your battery for 10 minutes, reconnect and the code will be gone.

Ok I have a problem. I've already done the gas tank and oil system and changed the oil 100 miles after like you said. So I took off the brake booster line and stuck the funnel into the hose and went to start my car and it wouldn't start. Instead of idling high like you said it would, it did the exact opposite. It'll barely run. Does this mean I have a vacuum leak somewhere else?

Well I finished it and it seems to be running better. It did put out a good bit of smoke but nothing crazy. The motor does run smoother. I won't know anthing about gas mileage for at a few days cuz I just filled her up.

just to let you know, the cars i've dealt with idle high with the brake booster removed. that's why i wrote it so in that tutorial. for some reason, the LS1 wants to die with it removed and gives off a cammed sound instead, so that's normal.

I have a head gasket leak, so I probably have a lot of junk in there right now. Doing heads and cam swap in 2 weeks, do I want to seafoam with new heads installed?

Thanks.

Aight I just wanted to make sure. My car did sound like it had a cam in it. I just had my brother keep it running while I poured. She did fine. I let her sit for about 20 min. and poof....smoke everywhere. Smoked for prolly 2 or 3 miles then cleared up. But it was pretty interesting seeing all that smoke come out of the engine while pouring in the sea foam. Before I cut it off it was straight up thick white smoke coming out lol. But I'm pleased with the results so far.
