Default HVAC blower obnoxious

When I turn on My heater or air conditioner on full fan speed it makes a really loud hummmm. Is this normal, does everyones sound obnoxiously loud or is it just mine.

I get no humming. Perhaps the blower motor is getting old? It's very easy to replace in a 4th gen. It's right above the passenger side kick panel. Drop the plastic guard, then pull 3 screws and it's out.

Really??, no loud hummm or drummmmm, however you want to pronounce it you still have to turn the music up alot to cover it. Where can you find a replacement blower and what do the go for?

You can get a blower at most any autoparts store/dealership.

I've seen them anywhere from $40-$100 depending on where you buy them and what car it's for.

I don't know off hand the price of an fbody one.....

Nope, all it sounds like is the usual air-being-blown-through-a-fan type noise.

I think twice it made a humming sound like you described, but it never happened again. I took that oppertunity to pull the kick panel and see how to remove the motor just in case. Looks like a simple job.

I think they're about $140-150 from the dealer.

My beater makes a noise like it sucked in a pine needle
(which is more than likely the case). You might just need
to make sure the impeller is clean and has nothing too
irregular about it. The squirrel cage type should be very
quiet, that's why it's used.

Holy CRAPP, are you serious. I kid you not I can remember driving through a buch of leaves in the middle of fall 3 years ago when I first got the car and thats when the noise first started as far as I know. I didn't think debris could get in there. I'm rippin that out this weekend for sure.

Mine does the same thing if I turn it up past the second setting. Next nice day I'll probably pull it out and take a look.

Just finished up pulling the blower motor out and guess what?, it was a damn leaf blower, there were more leaves in there than there are in my front yard. Ive been putting up with those humming buzzing loud obnoxious vibrations for 3 years and today when I was done, complete and utter silence. Thanks guys!

I've been trying to figure out how these leaves have been getting into our HVAC system/squirrel cage area, and I think I found out how!

I was removing the black cowl molding from the wiper arm area under the windsheild, and before re-installing the 2 pieces, I examined the screen.

What I found on both parts (pass & driver side) was a few small gaps where the edge of the screen is supposed to be sealed to the plastic cowl.

I bought some of the black RTV silicon sealant, and I've already sealed the entire edges all around the screen. The RTV is drier already, and I think it looks great (cant tell from the front becuase the RTV is black), and this should keep out all leaves!
