New Edelbrock LSx Intake Manifold at SEMA, claiming much more power than FAST

And I understand that you can't make a magic intake that does everything, but if they could design an intake similar to the new one or even radically different that would just barely clear on an f-body it would be win-win for everyone.
I'm not against this intake. It's awesome. I just wanted to argue with the anti-fbody intake people.

How do you know that the swapped engine market is a very small market? On the power tour, I saw almost as many older cars with swapped in ls1's as I did see fourth gen f-bodies. Obviously Edelbrock has done pretty well over the years catering to those guys. Maybe Edelbrock knows that to compete on the f-body market, it's got to compete against FAST and they may not want to.
Fact is old school hotrodders are into metal intake manifolds and that's where Edelbrock shines. I love the look of this manifold, and the performance gains are that much better, but unless I want to drop my k-member an inch, and cut my cowl and windshield wipers, it's not going to happen, but I bet it would fit in a first gen with no problems.

There are some old schooler's who have swapped in an ls1 that don't read the internet. Their extent of new knowlege is magazines.
Fact is, Edelbrock sticks to aluminum, hell they have their own forge in CA. So they are going to go after the aluminum intake segment. If they've read this board, they know the whole 'heat soak' argument that always comes up, so why should they worry about this market, the desire just isn't there. Also check out the sheet metal intakes, they kill low end power and focus on high end power because of the shorter runner lengths. So to compensate for that, you need a 'higher' intake to get a tunnel ram effect to help out the lower end. Fact is, because of how close our engines are to our cowls, it's tough to beat the FAST and ls6/ls7 intakes.

Head porters!
Anyone out there got into cutting one up to make it work for different applications? When I worked in a Winston Cup shop we cut up manifolds like crazy. Where's your adventure?

considering i just picked up 18hp and 12ftlbs of torque with a ported FAST 90/90 over my ls6/ported TB......same day, same dyno, tuned for each.
i find it hard to believe THIS intake would outperform the FAST.

If Edelbrock made the intake one inch shorter it would fit, probably make all of 3 hp and tq less than the FAST and only cost $400.

less than $1100 for the intake and TB from TSP.
$50 for a dremel tool and you've got yourself a ported FAST.
sell the LS6 and stock TB for $300-400
you've got yourself the best intake on the market for $750 or so.
its funny.....
every day you see guys spending $800 on a borla catback for 10hp, $1000 on stainless headers for 20hp
but $1200 for 20hp is obscene?
and besides....the FAST is readily available, proven, and already available USED.
got mine for $1200 SHIPPED....intake, tb, gaskets, bolts, ls1 fuel rail, AND BOSCH 42# injectors.
i'll enjoy my 20hp while the rest of the crowd sits and waits for the "new intakes" to hit the store shelf.

only nice thing about the fast , it has the ability to add burst plates in case a a nitrous sneeze
the fact it can be taken apart easier , and not require welding is a minor plus
since ill be turbo'd the aluminum is less likely to leak like a fast would , normally id use a carb intake and tb with a 90 elbow , but this 1 fits the bill better and looks better to boot , so i need to redo my strut bar ..... easy fix for me , add a cowl hood ........ was already on the plan because of how im running the charge pipe over the radiator
not to mention it would look good under the hood of my 68 elco , once i swap a LS motor into it , and yes swaps with the LS motor are bordering the popularity and success of the 55-97 small block , hell its easier to get a 5.3 over 400 hp , than a 327 small block , LOL

You have a point. BUT how many modded LS1 swaps are in hot rods and muscle cars? Not many. The shows I have gone to most of the LS1 swapped cars are bone stock down to the manifolds. If they have any mods it is slapping a carberator and some shorty headers on it and calling it a day. All Im saying here is I dont understand why Edelbrock would abandon such a large part of the market.

i called edelbrock today because i wanted to know lol, they said call jegs the 1st week of march and they will have them.
But.... even if they do have them then, im honestly beginning to wonder is it really worth it?
jegs has the manifold listed for $450
then you get a 90mm tbody for $350
ur at 800 total right now.
A fast 90/90 combo is <1100 from tsp
so for another 300 bucks you can have the fast and it will bolt right on no issues? It almost seems kinda dumb not to spend the extra 300 bucks? i mean whats another 300 when your already gonna spend 800
