I believe that is a vent for the fuel tank. There is a tube that connects the 2 places you are asking about.

+1 on the EVAP.. the port on the side of the Intake will feed into the EVAP Valve and Solenoid. There should be a port on the back side that would connect to the Vent line that run from the Fuel tank

You can remove it without to much problem by just pluging the port...

You should then flash out the function out of the PCM.

But one think you should consider.. that the Tank needs to vent and purge air/vapors out of the tank... and that is one of the function of the EVAP System. If you don't vent the take one way or another.. you will create vacuum in the tank and may cause fuel feeding problems. You can just vent the tank, run the vent lines to a Charcoal Canister or just use the EVAP. If you just vent into the air and you park inside, you might start getting fuel vapor around the car inside... not a good thing.

What I did was keep my existing Charcoal Canister and used the port on the intake to use as the Charcoal Canister Vacuum source.

i can try to get some in the morning. its just a small k&n breather. 3/8 size neck i think.

there was a line from the top of the gas tank that lead to the charcoal box. i removed all EVAP and charcoal box and squeezed the breather onto the hose that lead to the charcoal box

Wouldn't a vented gas cap take care of the venting or maybe they don't make them for this model and year.

I just made the EVAP line a Vent, cut it short and stuffed it in the Fender. The Tank also has a normal Vent as well.
