hey guys, i need a nice header thats in this price range, not much more because it was my christmas present and i cant go way overboard, I live in New england so I'm kind of afraid of the headers getting rusty but cant afford 800 dollar stainless ones, so heres my idea

pacesetter lt's black painted (probably sandblast them then buy some header paint and paint them myself

Pacesetter armour coat (but i hear that they will still rust in new england in liek 2 years so is it not even worth it to get them? or should they last a while)

or any other idea's ? the black paitned pacesetters would be a good deal because their only like 260 but i would deff. pay a little bit more for the amour coated if it would make a big difference and save it from rusting, thanks alot guys! btw do the header gaskets they come with fine or do i need to get factory GM gaskets?

 

Cant go wrong w/ Pacesetter LTs. Not sure if the armor coat is any better but I know it use to stink.

pretty much any paint you put on headers will bake off fairly soon

and don't use the paper gaskets if that's what you get. some people have been getting metallic gaskets with their pacesetters now but i'd still go with GM/Felpro gaskets.

 

Don't cheap out. If you want them to last for ever go stainless. LPP's are a good buy.

 

the link you guys sent me were the ceramic coated ones, how long you think they will last? i heard not to long wouldnt i just be better off getting black ones and keep painting them?

 

Go with the LPP's. They're stainless and are in the $550-$600 range for the headers AND y-pipe. It's a waste to go with a mild steel header in New England IMO as they'll be needing a replacement in a few years. The LPP's have merge collectors, too, so I bet they'll outperform the Pacesetters as well. Longer lasting, better performance, not much more money...I say it's your best bet.

 

I went with the pacesetter longtubes. They're the best bang for the buck I think. Eventually I'll step up to Kooks or something nicer when I have the money.

 

if you are stuck wanting stainless get the ebay ones. thay are like 250 per set.

 

I'm thinking of getting some Hooker coated LT's myself, but I don't drive my car in the winter so I don't have to worry about the salt. As the guys said before though LPP has pretty cheap stainless ones. I saw some in the for sale section too for like $400, you might want to try to find those.

 

I got the cheapest black painted race (non-emission) Pacesetters on both of my cars. My experience with them is you need to get the black paint off the headers prior to installing because it just flakes off within the first 10 minutes of running anyway's. Once you get it off clean it and go to the parts store and get some high heat header paint with your choice of color and put a good coat on them. That will prevent them from rusting for a while. But since they are mild-steel headers it is inevitable that they will rust sooner or later. The first set I bought have no paint at all on them and are bare metal and just have slight serface rust on them and they have been on my car for 2 years now.

also not to mension fitment!!! they are the best fitting cheap header's on the market by far!!!

 

So were do I find these LPP headers? Also no one answered his question about if the ceramic coated ones would make a difference or not.

Damn... Those Pacesetter Ceramics are damn tempting...

 

In the long run probably not....stainless would be your best choice however your budget puts a damper on that.

hmmm, such hard choice, seems like no matter what i do if i get black paitned or ceramics they will both only last a couple years, so id have to get stainless but their so pricey, i was thinking maybe get the black ones, get rid of the shitty paint and put some nice header paint on, should last a few years then i can upgrade them down the road?

 

BBK! i mean **** for 500 bucks u get awsome coated headers and a badass y-pipe! dont want teh coating? then get the chrome versions and be under 380 bucks for both headers and y-pipe! BBK is what im getting, BBK all teh way!
