I just received a revised quote from a shop to do an ARH Header install. I asked them to add motor mounts to the quote. I received new quote: Prothane motor mounts ($70.00) no problem.... Motor mount labor...$340.00 Am I insane, or is that insane? Everything is already off for header install! Please tell me if I'm wrong to think that the labor is outrageous!

It kinda sounds like they are taking the job as two seperate jobs. CHarging for XX amount of hours for the header install, then charging XX amount of hours for the motor mount install. I would think a good business would find a way to combine them to one hour requirement for both. But that is just me talking out my butt.

3K... Includes Headers, catted Y-pipe, MSD wires, NGK plugs, 160 degree thermostat, Prothane mounts, custom dyno tune, and labor for install of above listed parts. 3k for 30 rwhp gain too much for me I think!

trying to get back on track for ya, that does seem high. if they have to take everything off anyway i would think an ok shop could get the extra mounts done in 2hrs max. most shops are probably $80 per hour give or take.

$360 PaceSetter ceramic longtubes
$100 random piping/H pipe for dumped duals near the axle
$75 for motor mounts
$25 BGK TR6 or TR55
$70 for the wires
$10 for the O'Reilly/AutoZone 160 thermo (ill look for a part #)
$10 for new coolant
With that you're only at $650 for parts. That's $2350 in labor, screw that! Hell, if you bring the car to me I'd only charge half that!

Add in a couple hundred more for your favorite muffler or Y pipe...still not that expensive parts wise
In all honesty, motor mounts are not that hard to do, especially if there are no headers/manifolds on the car. I did both of mine on only jackstands, with headers in the way, in just a couple hours, working slow

I did it my self it a shed with four jack stands and a buddy of mine. It took a while since I had never put headers on a fbody car this year. Had to remove motor mounts and oil filter and jack the motor up a couple of inches. Still I think that IMO that is a crazy price to install that stuff. Makes me wanna open my own shop...

Dude you guys are tripping..!! I'am an auto tech myself and the price seems about right.. When you think about the motor mounts you still have to remove the A/C and Alt. So right there is an extra hr.. Shops rates vary depending on who you go to.. I seen them range as low as 75hr-125hr and more.!!! Thats how shops make money off of labor they don't make **** off parts.!!

I agree with everyone telling you to perform the install yourself. It's a perfect chance to get up-close-n-personal with your ride. And when you're done, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you just performed a job that was apparently worth $2300. LOL. Seriously, there are more than enough write-ups on here, and LS1howto, to guide you through both jobs. If you run into a snag along the way, get on here and ask a question. Somebody is bound to be able to help out. Do it yourself. You'll be glad you did. Good luck.
****. I just noticed, this thread is like 5 months old. Dude probably had these ******* installed months ago.
