Any wires CAN be run as long as their about 2" longer only due to the fact that the brackets for these mount higher up on the valve cover thus causing the coil to be about 2" higher up.

Or you can get inventive and make spacers and space the truck bracket back down to where the LS1 coil bracket was.

<--- *somebody* did that because they didn't want to bend the fuel inlet or relocate the Evap solenoid.

To be more exact, the brackets mount exactly where and how the original brackets do on the valve covers. The coils sit higher on these brackets than the originals. The brackets are completly different, as are the coils.

im sure with some fab work(ie drilling holes), you could mount them pretty close to where the stock location is.

Yeah. Let me rephrase: I spaced the bracket down so that the coils are in almost the exact same location. Since the truck coils sit higher in their bracket, spacing that bracket down puts the coils back down to LS1 coil height.

Since no one's asked, would there be any drawbacks to swapping LS1 coils into a 6.0 Denali or 4.8 truck? I have both and would like to just trade setups. But I don't want to negatively affect either truck or Denali. I haven't even checked to see if either has these coils, but hopefully one will.

Anyone else have an opinion on negative effects of swapping the coils from my LS1 with the coils from my 6.0 Denali (my 4.8 doesn't have the right coils)?

I offer an MSD 8.5mm Superconductor set made for the truck coils on an fbody car.

the thread in the dyno section has a couple people saying they saw no difference so I'm going to hold off until more results come in, hopefully with more than 1 pull with each

all you guys loosing your mind how to mount these coils never thought of this?

i moved the bracket down 1.5 inch and over the the left a half inch about...i am using one existing bolt hole in the valve cover as seen here.

then im using 2 existing bolt holes and bolts to suround the tab for now...will make a piece or metal to cover the tab later. it holds it down just fine with some bigger washers you might not even need the metal.

as you can see when you mount the coils this way the center hole lines right up with another hole behind themail harness conecter. you just have to open up the side of the hole a little more to get a bolt to work then just just move the harness conecter over a bit...thats what im going to do

i could drill a hole in the triangle part of the bracket for an other bolt but i dont really think its needed...well this my my solution...what you think? alot better then making up brackets and messing with the fuel rail and all that junk right?

i will do a full writeup if everyone wants after im done

I did this exact thing 3 months ago. It's all in this thread, with pictures even. You must have missed it.

seems like just drilling a hole for an existing bolt would be easier. Then you have two bolts per side which is plenty to hold that bracket on there and it would look like stock.

Yeah guys, everthing's here in this long-assed thread. I'm working on getting a sticky faq posted.

AFAIK, in the other thread, there was only one dyno test that showed zero improvement. Many guys who've done the swap without the ability to do a back to back dyno test have reported better "feel" and such. I'll bet that the car that showed no improvement on the dyno will still have that better feel to it's owner.
