Default T/B only opening 84%!!

ok, so i messed with the adjusters on the cables and have the cable tight when it is completely closed. It almost seems like the gas pedal is bent??? its pretty close to the floor. anyone have any other idea's or maybe a approximate height that the pedal should be offthe floor with out the floor mat in the car.

when the pedal is on the floor have somebody look at the arm on the throttle body to see if it's up against the bump stop or not.

do you have traction control? If so I think there is an adjustment near or in the control box over on the fender. Something else what year is the car? If it's a 99 up maybe somebody put the 98 throttle body on it. They have a smaller cam arm where the cable hooks. That makes the cable too long and will not allow 100% throttle

ok I assume you have a 2000? Can you take a pic of the throttle body and post it? I can tell you if it's the correct throttle body arm

yes it has T/C i did mess with both adjusters. I also have different T/B on it. When i did the 402 i never bothered to check the T/B % i know before it was 100% ...i think this is my 3rd t/b since i blew up the stock motor lol. I guess i can pull it off and see if i can check the #'s on it. I want to say it was off an 00 or 01 truck.

Mvvette does have a point here, if you've got the wrong TB on, the cable may have a longer route to travel around the arm of the TB. Here is a pic comparing the two throttle bodies:

The TB on the car has a longer route for the cable to follow and thus making the blade not opening all the way when all the slack was out of the adjustment.

I have played with early, late and aftermarket TBs and
while the shaft cams are different, early to late, the
amount of cable drar from closed to full open is near
identical. Just the profile of opening vs draw is different,
the late ones need more draw at the lower end (so less
"responsive", probably just slightly better fuel economy
or something under test conditions).

Bend the pedal arm. Also be sure the TCS pulley cluster
is not a hangup; wasn't, stock, but aftermarket it was a
bit short. So I removed that (went to non-TCS cables).

the reason In said about the cam arms on the throttle body is because I put a 98 tb on mine and had the exact same problem. I ended up sliding the cable back where it mounts to the intake. The plastic sleeve that sets in the metal bracket on the intake will allow the plastic part of the cable to slide back. It's kinda glued from factory but I was able to work it loose and slide the cable back and put a small clamp around the cable to keep it from sliding back in. I'll post a pic of it so you see what I'm talking about

They all have a slight bend, from factory; might want
more. I used a bench vise and a piece of conduit over
the cable end of it; just grief on it until you have maybe
an extra inch, which should be more than plenty.
