what is killing my battery??
okay, so right before i covered my car for the winter, my car wouldnt start and my battery died. i charged it up but it wouldnt hold a charge and kept dying. i then covered it and was just gonna get a new battery during the winter. i got a new battery from napa and stuck it in and the car fired up perfect. i let it sit for about a month and today i went out to start it and the battery was totally drained, interior lights wont even come on. i do remember hearing a kinda buzzing noise when it was off/key was out, but i dont know what it was. no interior lights were on/headlights. wtf is draining my battery, it was really cold here last month and i think that my new battery is shot now.
anyone know what could be causing this?
thanks

x2, You can use a DMM but I'd rather use a Test Light.

okay, im thinking its my headunits(clock/memory) so im gonna try pulling the fuse for the radio and see if i dont get a draw anymore. its not the alternator cause i put a new battery in and ran the car for about 10 minutes and then let it sit for a month and the battery was dead

i can't let mine sit for more then a few days without the battery dying, found this out last winter. I thought and was told it's from the small but constant pull of some power for the radio and w/e else would call for power from the car while being off? That with the 10 or 20 degree nights made sense.
Your suppose to be able to let your car sit a month in freezing weather and have it fire? doesn't make sense to me.

all depends on how many computers are in the car each one has a constant draw for memory my nova can sit that long but its carburated do you know how to do a proper draw test should be under 50 ma

Draw test the car and post the results. If you have for examole a 500MA draw the car will draw down 1/2 amp all the time. You can do the math and figure out how long the battery will last from the batterys capacity and the temperature outside. Most modern vehicles will deaw down from 50 MILLI AMPS to 200 MILLI amps. That is for radio clock ETC. Toyotas drain pritty good . What do you expect from THEM. I have many toyota owners complain about draw down. Nissan also has a high draw down also. Remember the ECM is always drawing down to keep the monitors SET. Most of the time the draw down is the audio equiptment or a lamp like GLOVE OR TRUNK ETC that is not suposed to be on. You have to test it and PULL FUSES. Hope this helps TOM

okay pulled the radio fuse and its not that. didnt get to do a amp test but i will do one soon and post what i get. i can hear something buzzing when the cars off and it sounds like its coming from the computer(pcm) but i dont know for sure. i just disconnected my battery for now
