Default FLP headers and high flow cats. clearance issues.

hey guys i recently bought a z28 and have ran into some issues.

i was having some problems with it running rich in one bank and the cat actually got so hot it burnt a holke in the carpet.

well after chaning the plugs and 02 sensors i believe that problem is gone.

I have FLP headers and high flow cats and dont have much room between the cat and floorboard on the drivers side.close enough to make the floor boards pretty hot still.

yet on the passenger side there is all kinds of room.

Any suggestions??

what did you guys do on your set ups??

thanks!

Where ya at?!? This is why 'Location' is a good tag in the username.
Can you have the cats removed & tuned out?

Wasn't there a shield there originally? Hmm, I can't remember, ..., I'll have to go crawl under mine & look now, ...
Can you build a shield if there's not one?

ok i edited my bio.

im in sw va and do not have emissions but i do have inspections and would rather leave the cats in place.

i do have the option to run catless but the car is already loud enough as it sits.

im not sure it the shield was removed or if it came like that . im new to camaros and just bought this one last weekend.

there isnt much room at all above the cat to install a shield either.

i cant fit my pinkie in the space between the cat and floorboard.

on the passenger side i can put my whole hand in between and there is defintley a heat shield on that side.

just trying to get some ideas and see what others have done.

Maybe you can run a piece of headerwrap between the cat and floorboard to soak up some heat....

just a little worried about the heat off the cat from being so close to the floorboard.

i probably wouldnt have thought much about it if i didnt run into the problems i had.

You just need to DRIVE FASTER! It will blow the heat away.

Sorry it took me so long. I checked the car out. It is sort of close on mine, but I don't have any heat issues. I have probably had them on there for approximately 15,000-20,000 miles. The wrap might be your best bet. Sorry that I didnt' help you out man. I hope you get it figured out.

the heat probably wouldnt be as noticeable if i didnt already burn a hole in my carpet and now have a section of exposed floorboard.

i took it for a 20 miles ride today and there is defintley a noticable amount of heat on the floorboard.

i guess ill pick up some header wrap tomorrow and give that a try.
