Question LS6 or BBK SSI? (intake)

Ok I currently have a bbk ssi in my hands (thank you!) Now do I trade my buddy for his ls6 or keep it? This is in the near future 243' (or 799) w/ a 228R tsp and bolt on's looking for 450hp/tq. Thoughts? experence? Done dyno on both with proof? Love to know! Need to know! Not just from a stock jock.lol.

Here's a thread on the BBK SSI:

Horsepower is possible depending on which cam you go with.

Yeah ids swap with ur buddy for the LS6 and call it a day.
MightyMouse has gone 8's with his LS6 intake and has no problems with it. I just think a big metal intake is silly to throw on top of the engine unless you are going to run a lotta n02 thru the bitch or are going sheet metal for high HP apps but that's a different thread.
And please don't turn this into a heat soak metal intake sucks, you'll lose HP pissing match because its ridiculous and there are already 5billion of them floating around you can go whip it out and join the fun in. Sorry just don't the OP to have his thread ruined...

If your already contemplating a larger TB then just get the BBK, it'll fit a 85mm,and with very little work a 90mm TB. Or just get the LS6 and send it to TPIS and have them install a 90mm snout on it. I've had both and stuck with the BBK, but you can't go wrong either way.

I'd keep the BBK. The BBK intake is worth it if you are spending the money on upgrading from an LS1 intake, not worth it from an LS6 intake from the marginal gains from it.

So I can use a dremal on the ls6 to 80mm? or just stick with the spacer? I'm not a big fan of the bbk. My buddy thinks its the greatest thing ever. Not only that I'm going to paint it. The bbk is a must powder coat and I'm cheep! Thanks guys!

Swap back to a LS6, the weight penalty alone almost wipes any HP gain from the BBK. If I was really worried about Nitrous Backfires or running some serious BOOST PSI then MAYBE I would consider the intake. But in this case LS6 are cheap and you may get someone to take the BBK off your hands.

I went from a Vengence Ported/Painted 90/90 back to a LS6, on a cash/trade deal and I made out.

I wouldn't have any doubts about spray painting the aluminum BBK.

I used brake cleaner to clean mine up then went over it with high temperature engine paint and it worked great.

This^^^^^ I completely agree with. As far as the weight thing goes(again), You're are not adding 22 lbs(BBK) to the car. You are adding 12. LS1/LS6 intake=10-11lbs If you added 12lbs to the nose of the car, you would not know it. Or record a time difference.
