Alternator pulley removal.... WTF?

I've looked everywhere but all I see is removal with the alt. out. Also, is the bolt holding the pulley on keyed with a Torx head or an allen head?
Do I need tons of pounds of force? What direction is the thread pitch?
I'm trying to install my Alt. underdrive pulley to keep my gauge lights from flickering and my turn signals flashing a bit quicker.
Thanks boys!
Try this, put the belt alone over the pulley and and kind of use that as a "handle" by pinching the belt. Or if you don't mind trashing your belt, keep the belt on it and get a big vice grip to hold the pulley without marring it.
I used an impact though

i believe its a torx 50, and a 15/16 wrench....
its a lil late, but might help ffor future reference to others...

With a 25% OD crank pulley and a A4 trans just raise the idle speed, 25% higher and your alternator will be back to normal engine idle speed.
If you have a M6 trans you shouldn't have any low amperage issues unless you battery cables need replacing(do the BIG 3). Some alternators also need to see at least a set amount of rpm's before the alternator will turn on. So if that's the case try getting the engine rpm's slightly over 1000rpm for a second after starting it up.
