i figured that would be obvious... but the majority of cutouts people choose aren't that type.

What kind of y-pipe are you using? The reason i ask is because i do not think you will be totally satisfied with a dumped y unless you get an off the shelf one and have it cut up to fit a 3" in/4" out flowmaster merge or have one custom made(which is what i did, but it was pricey).

The guy before me kinda mixed matched the exhaust so i dont really know. It is an aftermarket 3". I would do that or just re-do the whole exhaust but i think i will be satisfactory for now. If not, i guess i can always take it off later down the road

It was an Ion redline, and that blower is loudddd. My friend's car is a turd though with the 2.73s. His sounds good, but I think my dumped true duals (X pipe) sound better.

I agree with all of this..same setup i have...I run an open y at the track and have v-band clamps to drop the catback in about 2 minutes...works great and makes tons of mid range tq over a standard y pipe (30-40rwtq more than my other y)

how does she sound

All catbacks go from the 3" to the 3" y.. I know the fm merge would be alot better but I'm fixing to do my exhaust how I want for 30 bucks and some guy here is going to by my old for 70 so I'll be making 40 on a set up that's better than what I got. If I had a stock exhaust I would just do it once and for all but I'm thinking this will be satisfactory.. Why do yall say u wouldn't even mess with it without a merge? Good sounding car chrs1313.

Yeah, it's funny that some people are more critical about the merger on a dumped exhaust like it's a big restriction, but not with a full cat-back system which is most likely more restrictive than most dumped exhausts. FYI, any Y-pipe benefits from a merger with smooth transition and a larger exit regardless of whether it's a full cat-back, or dumped.

Just enjoy your dumped exhaust.
