hey ive been doing a little bit of research and i just wanted to know what all you guys thought about this.
i hear that K+N filters allow too much dirt through and that a stock paper filter is better?
what about throttle response between stock and kn
also i know this is a dumb question but does anyone have a picture of how the air filter is supposed to sit in the air box?

As long as you replace your paper filter when it's dirty you will do much better with a regular paper filter. You wont see any throttle response changes with a clean filter. The paper filters are plenty big and flow more than enough for anything still using the stock air box.

The oil on filters like K&N typically gets on the MAF sensor and f's with things. If you are going to use a woven cotton filter I would recommend a dry one, like aFe.
If it were me I would stick with a normal oem or oem replacement though. Currently I am using a Napa Gold which is technically made by Wix. The structure of the oem type is also thicker and seems to help lid's seal better from what I've noticed too.

This is what i gathered from my research on here, the engine can always use more air, of course, but the restriction isn't going to be from filtering since its size and fuction is acceptible. Paper filters FTW

Interesting thread. Supposedly the K&N will flow more cfm's than the paper. You'll never notice such a small difference even if the K&N or others do make more HP. Holley, K&N, Air Aid, Speed Inc filters are all the same style and are supposed to be better than OEM or OEM replacements. I switched back to a paper filter. Just because I read that it is a non issue plus the fact that you can mistakenly over oil the filter and mess up your MAF.
