Default Is installing a cai worth it even with my factory SS hood?

I have a 99 SS with the factory setup and a SLP lid. Would installing a cai or doing the free ram air mod going to be worth it or should I just stick with what I've got? Thanks for any input guys.

a FTRA or a SSRA or chris1313 or really any aftermarket ram air will give you gains. great bang for your buck.

Nice! Okay, thanks guys. Was just curious if the aftermarket cai would net me better gains than the factory ram air.

Personally I think the slp cai version is the best. It pulls cold air from under the car, tons more flow than the factory ram air

Yea, I would go with the SSRA, the "factory ram air" is more of a marketing then anything else, as it really doesn't do anything

X2, the K&N kit is pretty much an overpriced lid

Becuase it doesnt pull from low enough, it is sucking air from right in front of the rad/condensor.

So what is the best setup? I'll take into consideration that this answer wil be opinionated but I want something functional but yet looks factory.

Some cai just hang their hoping to catch air as it passes, while Slp version has the nice flowing catch in front of the radiator...which gives it better
flow/ram into the lid...best ram air option imao..

Okay, so I was looking into doing the free ram air mod to my car but took notice of something. Even if I was to cut out or completely remove the black cover that goes over the condensor/radiator, there would be no air going into the filter. It seems as if thought the radiator cover that holds the air filter is different than a stock Z28 or v6. Is this so, or do I need to just cut out the bottom of my air filter holder?

So do I need to cut out everything on the bottom of my radiator support that holds in the filter or do I need to find onne from a V6 or Z28? Are they different from the one in my SS?

They like to say "It's a mild supercharging effect at 60mph." I read that somewhere a loooong time ago.
