How does this setup sound to you?
And quite frankly if I could sneak into the track at night alone I think that would be best. Im sure I will get laughed at but as long as im having fun... getting laughed at... lol
when i was 16 i was nuts about cars. i wanted a v8 chevy truck. i told my parents that i didn't even care if it was old as long as it had a 350 in it. they got me an 89 chevy cheyenne with a 4.3 and 5 speed. it was a dog. 160k miles and had very little left. after that it was hand me down car after another until i graduated college and got a job then it was ls1's and crotch rockets

i guess i'm saying be glad you at least got something cool to start with. i know you cant wait to drive/drag it but your time is coming soon.
p.s. i think your dad is hooking you up more than you know.
pp.s. my parents never knew when we went to the drag strip

When I was your age I was doing a lot of computer stuff for friends/family, always nerding it up in conversation, building my own machines and whatnot.
14 years later.. I hate computers I just want them to work.
It's true what they say.. do what you enjoy and you'll never "work" a day in your life.
the problem is you're not always doing what you enjoy. In fact you might get stuck in a position with limited/no mobility and a lower than desired inome.. in oh say a recession.. where that fixer upper you bought just out of town is now worth 1/2 what you owe and 1/4 what you've invested.. and it can kinda catch up with you.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't go after what you enjoy.. just that.. well don't settle.. if you think you can do better, shoot for it.
Also, stay outta debt. Having these cars like this is a great thing because you can have something that keeps up with and in most cases out performs everything else on the road, and you don't owe a soul for it. I see these guys all the time around here with mazda R8s, mazdapeed3s, G37s.. sure.. those are all great cars (within reason..) and in my camaro's current form they're CERTAINLY faster.. but I just kind of chuckle when they feel I'm a threat on the road.. because I'd have to spend an ADDITIONAL $30,000 on my car before I'd have as much as they have in theirs.
Also, when you owe no one, it's much easier for you to move from place to place, job to job, and chase after your dreams. I guess blah blah "wisdom" moment aside that's making me feel old
All in all, it's cool that you're a car guy, and yea non-car people will roll their eyes and walk away or ignore you etc. because to them.. this is an appliance.. like a toaster. To them you're talking about your toaster..
You just need some other car guy friends to hang out with. I spent many a day between 15-25 at my dad's garage behind their house working on my cars, friends cars, into the early AM.
