Painting a LS1 intake???
First off clean it very well with something like Simple Green or Purple Power. Use some stiff brushes to get down in the corners where grease/dirt are.
As far as paint IMO you have a few options. I would suggest SEM spray paint for plastic. We use it at work and have had very good luck with it. I know they sell it in black(that's the only color we use)I would guess they have other colors too but I don't know.
If you decide to go with a custom color or if SEM doesn't have the color you want I would use some sort of adhesion promoter before the paint. What this does is soften the top layer of the plastic and it grips the paint better. We use PPG but I'm sure there are many different brands out there.
As always the prep work is the most important part. If the part isn't cleaned properly or the right steps aren't taken no matter how good the paint is it won't stick.
I would also suggest leaving the intake out in the sun for a little bit before you spray it so it's good and warm.
Hope this helps some.
