I just put on a new Meziere wp119. When I started the car it just heated up and within minutes got to around 240.
So im just wondering is this pump reverse flow or does anyone have any ideas where I should start to look?
I have read on here that people are running this pump with no thermostat, and thats the way its setup now. Maybe I need to put a thermostat in there?

I started the car with the cap off the radiator and could see the coolant flowing strong.
One other thing, after the car overheated I waited about 5-10 minutes and took the cap off the radiator, there was NO pressure. Is that normal or is the cap bad?

No, the coolant was not hot like it should be, it was very warm. I could stick my finger in it for a few seconds.
I have the car at the shop now, they will look at it in the morning.

Removing the thermostat allows the coolant to go through the radiator faster than with it installed. The coolant then has less time to give up it's heat.
What would I check? The polarity of your wiring to the water pump motor. IOW, did you get the positive & negative wires mixed up? Doing so will make the pump run backwards. You'll still see flow through the radiator.

Sounds like the pump was working fine initially, then something went south.
People in the past have reported that the 20-amp fuse can blow a little too easily with the pump, and recommended running a 30-amp fuse instead (that's what I run with it). I've also had an issue in the past with a relay failure - it must have been defective or something, but that failure kept the pump from running, and the coolant temps went up in a big hurry.
As for no thermostat - you can definitely run one. I currently run a 180* SB chevy stat in the upper neck. I did drill a small hole to relieve any pressure differences between the pump and the upper radiator hose, but no issues.
With no thermostat, my car wouldn't even warm up unless it was sitting still.

I'm new to the ls style engine, is it a reverse flow compared to the old small blocks? I bought a car in pieces, I assume the top fitting by the pumps motor runs to the top inlet of the radiator? Read this post and got me thinking...now I have a brain fart going on! Thanks

Yes! Everything is fine with the pump and the car runs great, the problem was me.....
I took the gauge cluster off and blocked a few lights, when I put the needles back on I guess the temp one got on there wrong. So I started the car and was checking out the new pump when I noticed the engine started smoking.... Thats when I looked at the temp and seen like 250 or something hahaha when really it was like 170. The engine smoke was just from my dirty hands all over the headers.
Also just some more info, the car runs and maintains temp just fine without the thermostat. maybe it takes a couple minutes more to reach full temp. but no problems at all.
