Default FM 1 chamber VS Borla XR-1

I am a huge fan of the FM 1 chamber... However, I love the sound of all three close friends C5Zs that have had the XR-1s on them.

I have never had the opportunity to hear an XR-1 on an fbody so am curious to some opinions.

I can't really go off the sound of their Zs because everything is so different, it won't sound anywhere near the same on mine.

Sound clips/opinions welcome.

Before it is even posted.. I HATE the common bullets: spiral, sweet thunder, etc.. They sound like complete garbage to me.

I am in the process of looking for a Borla XR-1 muffler myself after hearing my buddies 2000 z28 with one.

I had one on my old single 4" inch set-up & hated it! They have a very baffled sound at idle & sound just about like a bullet at wot. But I've always been a huge fan of the chambered muffler sound, so that's probably why I didn't care for it.

I have an xr1 on my car. Mods are H/C and full bolt ons. Its loud there is no denying that but everyone that hears it gives me a compliment.

Do you care for the Kooks sound? I have the Kooks exhaust setup and their muffler may be similar to the XR-1. I have a video somewhere...looking now.

I have a FM10 on a LT/ORY setup and loved it. Loud, hollow and a little raspy. I have toyed with the idea of selling my kooks muffler/tip setup for some single chambers....

It does sound extremely similar to most bullets I hear, slightly better judging from the video but still not the sound I am looking for.

Thanks for the opinions and videos guys... I will still be going 1 chamber!

Yeah the XR-1 is muffled at idle and driving around, it's less "Clean" sounding. Under WOT up top its still loud as hell though.

this is mine..

with a gmmg and a XR-1 in the Ipipe

OP, I think the FM 1 chambers will be just as loud as the Borla, but sound way better. I've always been a huge fan of the FM 1 chambers.

You can also look into Mac Flowpaths or some Spintech Super Prostreets too.. Here's a vid of the Macs with an h-pipe I had on my car several yrs ago.. My new exhaust is duals with super prostreets, but the car is not back together yet, so no vid of those.

So are you going with the Super 10s, or the Delta Force 10s...?

Is there a difference in sound between the Super 10's and the Delta Force 10's?
