Speed Engineering Race Version Headers Now Available!!
#262
Got my Speed Engineering Race headers in last week. Installed them on Friday/Saturday...Fit was perfect, driver and passenger both slipped right in! Love them for the cost, headers weren't as bad as I thought they were gonna be to install!

I just started the teardown today, so the headers should be going in soon. Im waiting on other parts (water pump, belts etc) so it'll be about a week before I know how it sounds!

Thank you for the orders guys..
dabest09: Were waiting on our first prototype back from them. I would say a month out before we receive a test fit version. If everything fits first go around we have approx 2-3 months from that point until we receive our first batch of 1 7/8".
Thanks

Just installed these yesterday. For it being our first header install I'd say it went pretty smooth and only took about 8 hours, most of our time was spent tearing off the old exhaust. The only thing that we had to remove was the dipstick (of course) and the coil packs to give us a little extra room. The headers slid right in after a finagling, but the y-pipe gave us a little trouble on the drivers side. One of the pipes was basically resting on the corner of the transmission cross-member (the car is an A4) so we had to massage it a little to give us some clearance. Other than that it was an exceptionally smooth install and man do these things look good! I would definitely do it again and recommend them to any one on a budget.

Sounds like a very minor issue.. hopefully my install goes just as smooth.. finishing up the motor mounts, then the headers (just put into place) and reinstall the trans then button up the headers and continue with the rest of the reinstall.

Well that's a good thing all that's already off the car, and nothing is or should be in the way for my install.. I cant remember where I read it, but is it true that to reinstall my transmission I should leave the headers semi loose so I can move them to allow the transmission to go back in easily?
I just don't want to install the headers and torque to spec to have to loosen to position the trans back in place.. or install the transmission and then cant fit the headers into place..

Got my set today. They look good. My only complaint is I think they could be packaged a little better. Part of the collector was sticking out of the box when I got it. It's not damaged thankfully. Maybe another layer of cardboard on the inside would help.
Welds look great.
