I just don't want to install the headers and torque to spec to have to loosen to position the trans back in place.. or install the transmission and then cant fit the headers into place..
Headers will slip right past the auto trans no problem. Just remove coil brackets, starter, and plugs and slide right in from the bottom.

Here is a pic of the passenger side installed with bolts hand tight until transmission goes back in...

This side was a breeze, considering I had a lot of things out of the way already, took longer to get the back screw started than positioning it into place..

Which is why header studs are $30 well spent

Maybe so but I had already spent the money on some other bolts a while back to make it easier to take off in the future..

I got mine installed a few days ago. They fit real nice, and are made very well. I have the Borla tunable catback and with the muffler bypassed its loud as hell and very raspy, so I'll be switching around the plates to get it flowing through the muffler again. It does sound very good at idle though.

The only thing I should have done is motor mounts, as the y pipe will hit the floor while decelerating. Its not the headers fault. I was just being a cheapass.

as far as positioning, I usually cut the heads off a couple old bolts, slide the header and gasket over them. start a couple other bolts, then thread out the "studs". voila!

So a 3-4 month wait for the 1 7/8" headers I'd definitely wait for these. Especially if the headers and ory pipe are close to the same price as another brands headers only. The merge spike would be nice as well.

How do I sign up?

Our 1 7/8" prototype came in earlier than expected. We should be receiving it today or tomorrow. I am tuning the car we are going to test fit them on today. The car currently has 1 3/4" longtubes on it. Curious to see how much difference it makes with 1 7/8".

We will also be building our first true dual exhaust system off the same car. It will be a 3" true dual kit with bullet style mufflers, and dump before the rear end.

PICS !!!

You will find a bigger difference in performance as displacement increases, with the 1 7/8" primaries . . . The "future" might call for 2" primaries to be available for 408 and UP stroker motors !

Didn't show up today. Should be tomorrow. Test vehicle will be a heads/cam 2000 Camaro. First dyno test will be our 1 3/4" headers with a Y-Pipe and a single cut-out. Second test will be our 1 7/8" headers with same Y-Pipe & single cut-out. And last test will be our 1 7/8" headers with our 3" true dual exhaust.

If you guys build an over the axle kit is there any chance you would sell just the pipes which go over the axle? I don't need the rest of the exhaust or suspension pieces which would be required.

Also if you build it please, for the love of god, add braces between those two pipes so they can't contact each other.

I have an idea that people might be interested in. What about creating a similar, "smashed" driver side pipe like stock? That would help lowered cars gain ground clearance, and as long as the width of the pipe is increased it shouldn't have any negative effect on performance.

I'm excited for 1 7/8 headers, and true duals over the axle! Need any test cars, let me know.

My Y-pipe fits real nice, and is not much closer to the ground then stock.

I took the car over a few large speed bumps and got no scrape. My car is stock height tho.
